Which one do you think is better?

Government built housing is when the government invests its own capital to building, operate, and maintain housing for low-income persons. They are usually large tenements in "run-down" areas of town but could be in the form of townhomes or even single family homes.

Section 8 is a department of housing and urban development program which grants rent vouchers to low-income persons in which they can use at any private rental property willing to participate in the program.

Both have their advantages and disadvantages. Both have similar costs. Which do you feel is the more desirable approach to housing and why? Many communities already have a mix, but preference is clearly given to one over the other.

Section 8.

But i think this overall i a bad idea..
different aparments would be good.. but not 10 12-floor buildings in a row. it creates segregation.

In the end its the same thing..you have to fill out the same paperwork and still report to HUD...I've lived in both..and the paperwork process is hell

I would say section 8 is more Desirable, because when you live in Public housing you don't have say over which apartment your living in and you can be moved around to different complexe's buildings at the will of the housing authority, and you cannot get on to Section 8 Because you live in the building..just in order to qualify you have to move out of public housing.

Section 8 offers you more options but its still the same thing..just with more options

Neither will work unless large numbers of both blacks and whites are willing to live in the same suburban communities.

Section 8, Public housing concentrates poverty into a small area, creating a ghetto

Damn! I'd hate to live wherever you live with an attitude and [reception like that.

Section 8 is basically rent vouchers issued by the government
If the government owns the property, then it's government housing

Come and visit metropolitan Atlanta and see its suburbs, because they pretty much do. And we don't mind.

Section 8 is the better choice.

The old apartments complex i lived in before had 2 sections, The upper section was regular rent for those who could afford it, and the back section was for section 8 people either with vouchers, or subsidized rent.

Either way i think section 8 is much better than government housing.
