Tell us more about the nine year old 14 storey that was *demolished*. Must be a funny story behind that.

Thunder Bay has about 95 of them, I have a database at home. I know for sure it has all buildings more than 6 storeys, that aren't undustrial, there may be 1 or 2 5 storey ones missing, and I only have about 10% of the 4 storey buildings. I also have records of smaller buildings that are significant. i'll post it next monday or tuesday, if the thread is still alive.

I think that building in North Bay was structurally unsound, or had mold. One of the two. Figures, eh?

Yeah, the 14 storey 'Lakeview Towers' started shifting on its foundation in the late 1970's and was ordered to be evacuated. It was determined to be structurally unsound and then was condemned. It sat empty and was vandalized for several years before it was finally imploded in 1982.

There used to be a show on CTV back then called 'Thrill of a Lifetime' and somebody's thrill was to push the button that imploded a big building, so they brought that person to North Bay with a TV crew and he got to push the button on National TV.
