Thank you sooo much, Arpels! :) Wonderful photos! :applause:

I find the hallway with the tile murals (a particularly fine craft where the Portuguese truly excel :okay: ) particularly striking:

Se o DonQui quiser nós fazemos uma troca com os nossos governos:Os EUA cedem um apartamento para mim no San Remo e nós portugueses damos um quartinho no Palacio de Queluz para o Don Quijote :colgate:

For a second I was confused about your post ^^, Arpels. :dunno:

But now I figured it out: :)

tile = telha
tail = rabo, cauda

Yes!!! That room is gorgeous indeed. :wave: :cheers:

Reflex
October 29th, 2005, 01:59 AM
In this case tile is Azulejo. Telha is roof-tile...;)

Ah. Thanks for clearing that up for me, Reflex. :) Such things are sort of hard to tell from a dictionary. ;)

So it's the azulejo room that is so fantastic. :okay:

eu quero uma casa, like that one.
Usually I dont express myself in english in this portuguese forum, but tonight its an exception:
Portugal, ... besides samantha everyone has heard about it at least once, yes its history, the past, the world became all One, people got to know the other alike, we got to trade, we made money, we used it, and in this particular case Queluz Palace Im sure it was made from colonies money, but lets pay a little attention here, Queluz Palace was a king living palace, comparing to others in France, Spain, Austria, and so on, we miss something.... scale? no, its not scale at all, we still have great open inside spaces, the matter is size! size matters here, and it costs too!, while others spent the money they got from their colonies or taxes to build big SIZED palaces we just cared about detail and confort, yes, we got money ourselves from other people indeed, but we didnt used it here for ourselves only, we shared it all around we have been, thats why you can still see nowadays our presence specially in religious and military spaces, ok, now you can blame us that it has no use, but the money was spent there and if you dont see a use its your problem.

(for donqui, i understand your ancestors were slaves from africa, we portuguese were a part for that market, but realize that besides the black marker we did a lot for where we have been), no further questions here, thanks for your time and my english.
