RP's tallest building to cost P5B
Edsa Properties Holdings, Inc. (EPHI) is planning to build the country's tallest residential building at a cost of P3 billion to P5 billion.

The St. Francis, a residential condominium with two towers of 60 storeys each, will be built in Mandaluyong City, at the fringes of the Ortigas Center.

Vicente P. Formoso, EPHI vice-president and treasurer, also told reporters, "We will use internal funds from existing properties to develop The St. Francis. Our projects, which have been doing well, will generate the cash."

Given its proposed location, The St. Francis will be accessible to business and retail establishments, schools, hospitals, and the EDSA MRT. It will be linked to the EDSA Shangri-la Hotel, Shangri-La Plaza Mall, Shang Cineplex, and the MRT Shaw Station.

EPHI owns most of the properties near the corner of Shaw Boulevard and EDSA.

Mr. Formoso said his company was also keen on expanding to other areas.

"We intend to have a series of projects such as malls and entertainment centers, but we want to concentrate in Metro Manila," he said.

He also said parking lot on one of the lots owned by EPHI in Mandaluyong City could become a "big development" in the future.

"A parking lot may be a future development. The St. Francis used to be a parking lot as well, but is now being developed to a structure with two towers of 60 storeys each," he added.

EPHI is into property development and real estate management, and is also a holding company formerly known as MUI Resources Phils., Inc.

It was formed in 1987 and now owns 78.72% of Shangri-La Plaza Corp. It also has interests in EDSA Shangri-La Hotel & Resort, Inc. and Shangri-La International Hotel Management Ltd. Its assets include leasable land in Mandaluyong City, the Shangri-La shopping mall, and the adjoining carpark.

In 2000, the company acquired 23.52% of KSA Realty Corp., the owner and operator of Enterprise Center in Makati City, a modern and luxurious office building.

St. Francis Square is totally unrelated to the Saint Francis Towers. Maybe the only relation is that they belong to Ortigas Center and both stand on the same street (which is St. Francis Street).

glad manila will have a new addition to its skyline....i think the height of the roof is 212 mtrs but when u consider the spire or the design on top it will be 227meters.....too bad its not included in the skyscraperpage.com on the list/diagram of u/c developments.

it's total height is actually just 212.88 meters. they sent me an email about it.

...too bad it wont be as high as the new GA skysuites in quezon city..it is likely destined to be the tallest or 2nd tallest with a height of between 230mts up to 260mts...no confirmation yet on exact height....

Could have been much better if they used darker tint though (I can sense economics as the reason). Each future occupant's air conditioning system might have to work double-than-usual, otherwise, we might see different occupants installing their own tints on their inside face of the glass on their own units, and that would look ugly! Like the case of Astoria Plaza.

woah this tower is gorgeous saw the progress over in manila and hopefully by the time i get back this beauty will be up although for its design it would've been great if it was a little bit taller than the 213m nonetheless this will be another of the great towers in manila!

sure thing twin towers are getting popular if one looks great well why not have two instead of one its also the norm for highly dense places like asia for which there ain't much space to build and so they have to build so much towers and instead of wasting time finding many styles its better and quicker to duplicate

I think the glass is light tinted blue, while the aluminum frames are still covered with plastic protective sheets. It should look better once the glasses are cleaned and the plastic covers removed once completed later. :)

...outstanding! if they can follow thru with those top side glass panels as in the rendering, then it will truly stand out! :okay:

just to let you know, we have a topping off ceremony on June 24. By that time, both Towers 1 and 2 have topped off already. Ceremonies will be held on the 5th Podium level of St. Francis Shangri-la. Unit owners are invited but need to confirm with their respective property consultants. =)

Here's my simple contribution to SSCers -- from my own lens.

One night in August, my family had a great time at EDSA Shang Hotel (courtesy of the other almighty almightyge888 :okay:) and I must say that such stay gave me a glimpse of what's in store for current and future owners of St. Francis.

The hotel's service and hospitality are top-notch, even surpassing what huge hotel brands (Fairmont, Marriot, Novotel, Hilton, etc.) have to offer. From lavish, well-maintained lobby to elegantly decorated and furnished hotel rooms, Shang has exceeded all my expectations.

The gym and pool have been impressive as well. And to think that St. Francis' gym is three times bigger (yes!) than that of the hotel's, we can only surmise how complete and grand it would be to live in style -- the St. Francis way.

Oh another thing, security. With security personnels (some in plain clothes) roaming around with walkie-talkie and trained dogs, you can certainly feel secure.

You may disagree but in my opinion, Shangri-la has a different DNA, and a really special one. :) :) :okay::okay:

Why is it that St. Francis Towers having 60 floors is just under the height of GT Tower which is 217 m & only having 43 floors?

Do the towers have low floor-to-ceiling ratio?

St. Francis' floor-to-floor height is shorter than GT tower's ;) :cheers:

GT TOWER has a height of 217 meters at 40 plus floors. however the topmost floor of the GT TOWER is only up to more than 180 meters and the extended top/spire runs up to 217 meters that is why it is taller than the St. Francis shangrila place at 213 meters.
