Welcome to the birthplace of the City of Gold. Now, 130 years later, gold is to be discovered again.
Gauteng’s most exciting, unexpected and opportune development is taking place in the South.
Gold Reef Towers, a cosmopolitan fusion of our African and gold mining heritage, expressed through 21st century architecture and technology.
Gold Reef Towers is a soon to be developed R1 Billion “shopper-tainment” development that will encompass a hotel, conference centre, shopping area, office park and entertainment node.
Situated adjacent to the Gold Reef Casino and Gold Reef City in Ormonde, south of Johannesburg, Gauteng, Gold Reef Towers was conceived as the vision of successful Black entrepreneur, Jay Thakoor, in 1997.
After much planning and consulting with local and international organisations, the vision was translated into the envisaged development. The land was acquired from I-prop, previously RMP, who owned the property. As an indication of his commitment to the vision, Jay Thakoor, invested his own capital in the acquisition of the land.
The development company has seen a need for a visionary development that will create wealth for the shareholders and contribute to the economic upliftment of the local community, enhance the value of property in the area and contribute to the ideals of the local & provincial government as envisaged in the Blue IQ plan.
With more than five million visitors per annum drawn to the Gold Reef Casino, Gold Reef City and Apartheid Museum, Gold Reef Towers will work in harmony and consultation with the existing developments to take advantage of complementary opportunities.
Gold Reef Towers will be marketed internationally and will attract both local and foreign tourists and visitors thus contributing meaningfully to the economic growth of our country.
Initial studies indicate an enormous opportunity for extending the formal and informal commercial offerings. GOLD REEF TOWERS aims to take advantage of this by complementing the existing businesses in the area and extending the capacity of the current marketplace.
