mr. N June 6th, 2005, 12:40 AM I like the look of this project and the hotel. In all these pictures they show women without a headscarf. Will they allow that here? I read that in Kish the dress code will be relaxed but women will still be obligated to wear a scarf (whatever that means). So obviously this is probably targeted more to Iranian people.
blackforest June 6th, 2005, 12:47 AM Yes, I noticed that in the rendering too.
I think they'll have some women-only sections though and a private beach for women, because currently Kish Island has that.
I've never been but the husband of a friend of mine worked in some tourism thing there and she told me about some of the facilities. They have jetskiing and I think glass boats for hire, and cycling tracks, and a private beach for women. I guess with this new project, they'll add more stuff.
They'd also better get some better airlines to serve them. I'd be very interested in visiting this resort.. finally someone takes Muslim women into consideration.
Dubai-Lover June 8th, 2005, 10:51 PM this should be iran's signature project
have heard & read about it several times and it's good to see it's true
the whole development is beautifully designed
hopefully it will look like in these renders!

Tougher Sell - Flush with oil cash
The Wall Street Journal, 08. Februar 2005

February 8, 2005
Last November, the governments of the United Kingdom, France and Germany persuaded Iran to suspend its uranium-enrichment program.
They began a round of discussions on politics, security and the economy aimed at persuading Iran to give up enrichment altogether.
Part of their gamble is that Iran will comply rather than risk shutting off a foreign-investment flow in which Tehran has approved $5,8 billion in foreign-funded projects in two years. Exports from Germany alone to Iran doubled in 2003 to $3,77 billion, International Monetary Fund figures show.
Iran may have better potentialfor economic growth than any other country in the region. It has an educated population of 70 million an a wealth of natural resources in an area more than three times the size of France. These include the second-largest natural-gas reserves after Russia. In an interview, Nejad Hosseinian, Deputy Minister for International Affairs at the Ministry for Petroleum, said Iran plans to more than double gas production by 2010.
Over seven years, Mr. Hosseinian said, Iran has invested $46 billion in its gas fields. He said $19 billion was provided by foreign companies, mainly European, in deals that pay a fixed return on investment but don't give the companies a stake. The ministry plans gas investment of a further $104 billion by 2015, much of which will have to come from abroad. And by 2020, it plans to raise the nation's crude-oil production capacity to seven million barrels a day, from four million.
So far, foreign investment outside energy is relatively small, just $837 million in 2003. Foreigners grumble it can take years to secure a deal because there are many layers of bureaucracy, often with conflicting agendas. Even so, Europeans say the prospects are too good to ignore. "The Yanks don't know what they're missing, " says Michael Thomas, director of trade for the London-based Middle East Association. "We Europeans are all trying to get established on the ground before they come back."
Mr. Thomas took executives of 15 companies on a visit to Iran late last year. The executives, mainly British, went to the southern mining province of Kerman and to Kish Island, a resort and offshore business center 11 miles into the Persian Gulf. Turning out to see them at one stop was a hall filled with about 200 Tehran businessmen, who wanted to find out what the foreign company had to sell.
On the six-day trip, Delkor Ltd., a U.K.-based supplier of mining and water-treatment equipment, picked up a $10 million contract and the prospect of mining a small zinc deposit. In Iran "there's enough business for everyone," says Delkor's sales director, John Watson.
The foreign-investment project cosest to success so far is Kish Island. Several European companies and banks are financing a $2,2 billion resort. It's part of a burst of construction designed to turn Kish into an Iranian Dubai, the United Arab Emirates' vibrant trade and leisure hub just 100 miles across the Gulf.
The first foundations have been laid for the flower of the east, a resort with villas priced up to $8 million, a hotel in the shape of a spiky tulip bloom and a 27-hole golf course of lush grass and freshwater canals. A dolphin park is already running daily shows on Kish, with plans to add on a theme park with rides. A convention center and a commodity exchange that would trade oil futures are to open later this year.
Under special laws governing the island, which Iran designated a free economic zone in 1989, foreigners can visit Kish without a visa and make 72-hour trips to mainland Iran.
They can buy property, operate businesses tax-free, bank with a Western bank and register a company in 30 minutes at a cost of $100.
"We are going to set a pattern for mainland Iran. Whatever we do here we will test, prove and export to the mainland," Mohammad Ali Najafi, Deputy Chairman of the Kish Free Zone Organization, told Mr. Thomas's trade mission.
But even here, distinctly Iranian obstacles appear. Alcohol and dancing are banned on the island, as elsewhere. Men and women bathe on separate beaches and can't share swimming pools.
A mixed-sex beach for foreigners was closed a year ago. Local officials said the beach was shabby.
All this poses a challenge for Khodayar Alambeigi, a board member of Hansa Chemie AG, a German chemical company that has 10% of the fower of the east project. Mr. Alambeigi, who left Iran in the 1960s, hopes to attract Europeans to the resort's seven hotels and 4,500 residential units, and is lobbying Kish's local authority to let him build a foreigners-only beach.
"We hope Europeans will be allowed to bathe common beaches," he says, nothing that flower of the east won't open until 2009. "Iran changes every day."
Map of the whole project.

Sultan October 23rd, 2005, 10:07 AM I love this project ! Whats the status on it ?
shugs October 25th, 2005, 07:38 PM wow it look real nice, i went to kish last year beutiful place doesnt even feel like ur in iran ppl are real nice quite a lot of mazandarani there which is awsome. so the whole no iranians policy, the govt seriously thinks they can pull it off? but for the record, my parents r iranian and i was born in england, my parents arent of muslim and they wernt born muslim, so i geus then i could go there, cool. lets hope that by the time this place is running islamic laws are laxed,
i was thinking about this and if the govt suddenly gets rid of islamic laws there would be serious social problems, like theres a whole generation that has been raised in islamic law and if there was a sudden change then i think a lot of ppl will overstep the line and well the country would be "filthy" but if theres a gradual relax in the laws then it could work right? hell i aint a supporter of the mullas but they were who the ppl wanted at the time talk about being conned
shayan October 25th, 2005, 07:42 PM welcom shugs YEEEY A NOTHER DUDE WITH IRANIAN ORIGINE!!

Gilgamesh January 18th, 2006, 10:42 PM A mega tourism project to crown Kish by 2010
TEHRAN, Jan. 17 (MNA) -– A massive tourist attraction project began in 2004 is expected to finish by 2010. The Flower of the East project is the biggest project on Kish Island in the Persian Gulf, director of Urban and Architectural Office at the Flower of the East (Gol-e Shargh) Development Company Kambysia Karl Hakim-Meybodi told the Persian service of IRNA on Tuesday.
Flower of the East, the EUR1.7b project, is a real turnaround in Iran's tourism industry and one of the most gigantic projects in the world will be implemented on the area of 2.2 km² of the north-east side of Kish Island. In fact, putting up the world-class high-rise hotels along with a vast number of resorts and amenities will shape a modern tourism town in Kish and a real paradise in the middle of the Persian Gulf.
The project, which includes a 7-star and two 5-star hotels with over 1,000 rooms and suites, three residential areas, 4700 luxury villas and apartment complexes, coffee shops, luxury showrooms and stores, sports facilities with a 27-hole golf course, marina and a lot more, is scheduled for completion in 2010.
This tourist hub, to be equipped with all the utilities, will be able to function independently energy-wise and the island’s international airport is going to be a plus for direct flights from all over the world, the director added.
Dress and Sommer is the German firm in charge of whole project management of the mega holiday resort town in Kish Island.
END
Shayan_m January 19th, 2006, 06:09 PM The whole project is a great addition to Iran . We need more of those !

Rahmani June 21st, 2006, 10:56 PM Any new updates on this project? It has been over 4 months since the last post
Rahmani June 22nd, 2006, 11:21 AM I am going to Iran in September. One of the things planned was a weekend to Kish. But I decided not to, because of the regulations and the facts that I can’t lay on the beach next to my girlfriend and give her a kiss, before going swimming together. So we probably are going to Dubai instead.
shugs June 23rd, 2006, 06:37 PM Any new updates on this project? It has been over 4 months since the last post
The last new update on the Flower of The East website was in January 06:
flower of the east to exhibit at 4th International Free Zone Exhibition on Kish
January 02, 2006
flower of the east will have a strong presence at 4th International Free & Special Economic Zones Exhibition 2006 at Kish Island, the premier economic-themed exhibition in the region, which will be held at Kish International Exhibition Center from January 10-13, 2006.
Following the success of previous exhibition in Tehran, the fourth Exhibition of Iranian Free Zones is intended to hold on a truly international level: Kish Island, the most attractive Iranian Free Trade Zone among foreign investors. Exhibition officials intend to provide opportunities for the transfer of technical and managerial knowledge as well as attracting foreign investors and establishing cooperative links.
Absolutely highlight at the flower of the east-booth is the showcase of latest masterplan version, designed by RKW-Architects (Düsseldorf). Real estate experts, investors and future customers are also provided with a variety of architectural models, as of golf villas, hotels and marina.
Setting benchmarks for quality, luxury and excellence on the Iranian market, flower of the east offers a complete range of business-facilities with state-of-the-art IT, unique residences as golf villas and luxurious apartments, sports and leisure facilities and provides an extensive range of properties for differing tastes and requirements.

Mahmoud Reza Abbasi, project manager of two golf courses still under construction at The Flower of The East golf resort, shows the progress of the project as he drives in his car on the site at Kish island just off the Persian Gulf coast in Iran, Thursday Sept. 14, 2006. Golf is making inroads in the Islamic Republic. Two new courses are under development on this coral island just off Iran's Persian Gulf coast, the first in more than 30 years. (AP Photo/Kamran Jebreili)
By JIM KRANE, Associated Press.
KISH, Iran (AP) - Golf never has been very popular in Iran. Even during the days of the shah, there was a single 18-hole course in Tehran: The Imperial Country Club.
And after the 1979 Islamic revolution, golf was derided as a peculiar western waste of time. The embattled Iranian duffer's options dwindled as the Tehran course sprouted weeds and had five holes expropriated by the Revolutionary Guards.
But now golf is making inroads in the Islamic Republic. Two new courses are under development on this coral island just off Iran's Persian Gulf coast, the first in more than 30 years.
A US$2.2-billion golf resort, dubbed The Flower of The East, is under development by an Iranian businessman based in Germany, backed by German and Swiss investors.
The investors believe they'll have little trouble attracting players - and buyers of luxury homes - among the 1.1 million tourists who visit Kish each year. They say the rigours of operating in Iran's isolation are outweighed by Kish's attractions: fine white beaches, and no taxes or restrictions on sending home profits.
But construction has been slowed by the nuclear dispute between Iran and the West. If the United Nations imposes sanctions, developers fear the course and surrounding resort could be delayed - or scuttled.
Ingolf Burstedde, the German engineer overseeing the development, says the German government appears to be withholding normal insurance guarantees to German contractors and architects waiting to build the resort.
"Yes, we're afraid," Burstedde said in his Kish office. "Sanctions would cause a delay, at least. Maybe we'd stop work for a while."
Construction was going ahead last week, with Iranian contractors sculpting a huge patch of land under direction of a Dubai-based golf course designer. Furthest along is a nine-hole course and driving range aimed at first-time golfers.
A tour of the course-to-be last week found backhoes scraping artificial lakes and piling excavated limestone into future bunkers and fairways. The result was a lunar landscape of bleached white hills and dales.
"This is the end of Fairway 4," said project manager Mahmoud Reza Abbasi, giving a tour in his four-wheel drive vehicle. "This is Island B. This is the start of Lake 12."
A French firm will handle the final details, since Iranians have no experience designing golf courses, Abbasi said.
A full 18-hole course planned for a neighbouring site is aimed at foreign tourists and homebuyers, mainly wealthy Iranian expatriates who live in Los Angeles, Germany and across the Persian Gulf in Dubai, Burstedde said.
By 2009, Burstedde said two finished courses will be surrounded by luxury villas and townhouses marketed, in some cases, for millions of dollars each.
A second phase, which developers hope to finish by 2012, would contain a luxury hotel, yachting marina and apartments on a manmade peninsula jutting into the harbour.
Burstedde said Iran's laws mean the resort will lack for two things: integrated bathing and liquor. The Islamic Republic still segregates men and women in the island's swimming pools and beaches. And alcohol is banned in Iran.
"Can you imagine going to the bar and you can't get a whiskey?" Burstedde lamented.
In reality, though, men and women do swim together and any taxi driver on the island can find smuggled alcohol. And Burstedde said his resort is preparing for the day those laws are overturned. Spas and swimming pools are designed with easily removable barriers between men's and women's sides.
"When the laws change we simply remove the walls and men and women can mingle," he said.

Iranian women look at the architectural model projects presented by Flower of the East development company at Kish island's airport in Persian Gulf, Iran, Thursday Sept. 14, 2006. A group of European investors headed by an Iranian-German has begun work on a sprawling US$2.2 billion (euro1.7 billion) golf resort.
ThePersian January 6th, 2007, 04:13 PM any news on this project?
germx January 6th, 2007, 07:22 PM I havent even seen construction pics of this place, I'm beginning to think its a huge hoax...
Spade87 January 6th, 2007, 11:16 PM When I visited kish with my family about 2 or 3 years ago, our taxi driver said that the German companies have bought this land from Iran. Now I don’t know if this is true. But according to him women don’t need to wear head scarfs, because it will be like a part from Europe in the Middle East, with European laws. They have built walls around it and Iranians have to get a visa in order to enter the place. They are also building an underground channel system so visitors who arrive at the airport can take a boat strait to the resort.
Now like I said I don’t know if it’s true.
But the channel thigh I know for a fact is true because I visited there.
It’s the ancient underground caves that have been expanded.
Btw I think there’s a thread about that in this forum.

It's not true, it's just a lame rumour like the other one saying beckham bought a house in Shahr aftab lol. Read the article in post 56 "Burstedde said Iran's laws mean the resort will lack for two things: integrated bathing and liquor. " and "Spas and swimming pools are designed with easily removable barriers between men's and women's sides. "
Spade87 January 7th, 2007, 02:27 PM Thanks for clearing that up.
I’m glad that it isn’t true because that would suck.
Iranians getting a visa to enter there own land.
mahdial_x5 January 7th, 2007, 09:02 PM sik man i went there 2 years ago, the underground city i have alot of photos.
and i dunno about the german buying land...but they have made private beaches before no? for tourists only so its mixed?
shugs January 7th, 2007, 09:09 PM When I went over two years ago while Khatami was still in power all the private 'mixed' beaches for foreign citizens were shut down on order of the government as many Iranian youths got themselvs inside the beaches and 'karahe kasif kardan' :|
But anyways its a project done by a German contruction company.. I can't remember if Iran contracted them or if they invested in the land themselves.. read to origional articles lol
mahdial_x5 January 7th, 2007, 09:10 PM btw, any updates on this proejct?? not even the site has updates...
my dad was there last year, he said that there is nithing going on...no construction whatsoever...nothing at all and mind you he was there march 2006.
shugs January 7th, 2007, 10:00 PM Actually if you look in the previous pages you will see there has been some construction. The project is due to be finished by 2009 and is fully confirmed by Iranian and German media.. so its not hoax.
mahdial_x5 January 7th, 2007, 10:18 PM nnono i am aware of it not being a hoax...i did not mean that by all means i am happy for the development...its just as acording to my father, and he was there, there is not much construction
mahdial_x5 January 10th, 2007, 06:51 AM alright people, my dad just came back yesterday from Iran, he says that there is no talk at all about the Kish Projects. Ever since AHMAGHI-NEJHAD came in, all construction has been HALTED. NOTHING happeing in KISH. they only advertise here where in reality NOTHING! all HALTED! or perhaps even cancelled...hopefully NOT... :ohno:
Gilgamesh January 10th, 2007, 10:34 AM Dude, there is an article by AFP from September 23rd, 2006 in post # 56, read it. It's much more reliable then iranians who just love to talk.
Adaei99 February 10th, 2007, 11:35 AM Any new information on the project?
I have not searched online for news.
I was there almost three years ago and there were a lot of talks about it. Real estate sellers were saying that land price was dramatically going up there from the previous five years, but I have not heard anything now.
It seems to me that they would need to allow much more flexibility with the islamic law if they want foreigners to want to live/invest there.
shugs February 10th, 2007, 03:30 PM One of our forumers recently visited and got an update for us. They are currently laying down the foundations for the project and it is currently still on course to be completed by 2009. Also the golf course is under-c
niki_niki February 17th, 2007, 12:37 PM NO CONSTRUCTION?!! what are you talking about mahdial there are tons of sites i wasnt able to take pics of all of them Kish is developing in a scaryyyy speedd!!!
mahdial_x5 February 17th, 2007, 03:41 PM naaa naaa yea i accept that, my father went there, in september of the year that just passed, so, 2006,

i dunno then, since you just went there, but how is the flower of the east going>?
niki_niki February 17th, 2007, 04:52 PM ohhHHh ok :D just check a couple posts up :P shugs always has the best info lol
Adaei99 March 1st, 2007, 06:09 AM Does anyone have any pictures to dispell all the debate?!!
mahdial_x5 March 1st, 2007, 08:05 AM no sir,

panj-delaavaraan June 26th, 2008, 07:09 PM Any update on where it stands?
shugs June 26th, 2008, 07:30 PM I searched a few weeks ago, not a peep... I would imagine they'd announce it has been cancelled which they haven't so it stands to reason that it is still on going
Would be good if we had someone on Kish to find out... Last person was Niki i believe and she said that it was under/c mostly digging foundations and building the golf course... that was a while ago though!
persian June 29th, 2008, 12:37 PM It was supposed to finish in 2009, the way it is going I doubt it.
Adaei99 August 29th, 2008, 01:41 PM Any new news on this people??
persian October 6th, 2008, 10:32 AM Latest news from the project is that it will have a 2 year delay and will finish in 2011. apparently the German company has pulled out and the Iranians are building the project.
persian October 6th, 2008, 10:36 AM Floower of the east will have a 40000 seated football stadium and a 10000 indoor stadium for volleyball, basketball, handball and futsal.

kish airport getting investments in billions from dubais to operate in coordination with eachother!
we should use dubai as opportunity!
Kish Booms amid UAE Visa RunLily B. Libo-on
6 October 2008 Print E-mail
KISH (Iran) — September 23. Hotels run out of beds, mattresses and bed-sheets. Five flights of airlines bound for Kish from the UAE are cancelled. Hotel rooms are jam-packed with guests of different nationalities.
Business centres are filled with callers and Internet users trying to get in touch with their travel agents in Dubai. This was how Kish island, a placid tourist destination in Iran, boasting of its natural scenery looked like on that day.
As the UAE implemented its new visa rules, Kish suddenly started witnessing cash changing hands fast as visa changers got stuck on the island. These days, hotels here are cashing in heavily on the influx of visa changers from the UAE, and most of them have no more rooms to spare.
The island has 50 hotels, 40 of which are three-star, four-star and five-star facilities. The rest cater to visa changers, who have been on the island since the implementation of the UAE’s new visa rule from July 29. These 10 hotels charge Dh35 per person for sharing a room with four or five others. Families that want to have a single room are charged Dh150 to Dh200 a day.
As the exodus of visa changers from the UAE to Kish peaked a few days before the start of Ramadan, hotels were overflowing with guests, who could not say how long they would be staying. Everything depended on the arrival of their visas from the UAE.
Even today, most of them are still waiting on the island. Fatima Mendoza, tour coordinator and customer service in charge of Farabi Hotel, a sister company of Kish Airline, Said the hotel purchased two truck loads of new mattresses and bed-sheets. “Rooms with a capacity of five are Now occupied by nine persons while others with a capacity of eight have up to 13 guests.
“We allow additional guests in a room only if the other guests agree,” she added.
While 20 to 30 guests are checking out daily from every hotel, 55 to 60 are coming in from Dubai.
Masoud, at the reservation office of another hotel, said 12 guests pleaded to be allowed to stay in the lobby and sleep on sofas.
“They said they had gone around the island and could not find any vacant room. So we allowed them to stay with us without charging anything.”
Other hotels have had to heed the requests of tearful visa changers to allow them to sleep on the floor. Some, however, have made additional profits by increasing their daily room rates.
Still others are undergoing urgent renovation and expansion in an attempt to cater to more guests as the visa runs are turning the island into a very profitable enterprise of some sort.
Shapoor February 8th, 2009, 08:28 PM Anyone got any update or construction pics? Is it really going to open anytime between 2009-2011?
I found a render view from the other side of the tower:
http://i43.tinypic.com/inr3hu.jpg
http://i42.tinypic.com/2hewnl4.jpg
Although the tower may look small in the renders, it is actually going to be 200m tall with 50 floors. The budget for the tower itself is 191 Mil. Euros.
More info here: http://www.jsk.de/#/en/projects/1449
I find the pattern similar to the Swiss Re building in London:

P.S. the official website doesn't work for me, when I click on the tabs the flash loads to 100% but shows nothing. It also says "Fehler 404 - Seite nicht gefunden" when I click on the press release tab.
Adaei99 February 10th, 2009, 12:58 AM Thanks for the link...I didn't try the flash though. I haven't heard anything either. I have been hoping to see new info on this forum.
On the JSK site it seems they have significantly changed the design again. It also seems they are only doing the one tower and the masterplan was or is being done by another firm.
I really would like to see something official stating what Kish is planning for the whole island in the next 5 years.
I'm sure with the recent visa craze they could bring in more revenue and gain a much bigger exposure, especially if they people have a good time when then come over for the visa runs....but that may change too with the downturn in Dubai now.

I Think "Environment" is just a propaganda, for the project to be stopped!
Persiancat March 1st, 2009, 05:40 PM Hello Persiancat, who are referring to with "these people"? The German managing team, the expat investors, or the German architecture team?
umm...I believe that the investors were Iranians, so I'm reffering to them. Here in US, when a big project is started, you know that it will eventually finish within at most two or three years. On the other hand if a big project is started in Iran, you can never be sure that it will ever finish or weather the Iranian government likes it or not.
shugs March 1st, 2009, 06:48 PM ^The German contractors were forced to drop out (like many other European investors in Iran)
due to US pressure and the latest UN sanctions forbidding them to do business.
Persiancat March 1st, 2009, 07:25 PM ^^Why do we need stupid German artitectures, anyway. Aren't they any educated artitectures in Iran? Can't they finish the project?
^^I wonder what طرح نرگس is all about!
sinasina March 1st, 2009, 08:35 PM ^^^^ The "stupid Germans" Built Iran's first Railway from North to South within about 10 years almost 70 years ago!! So the Germans are not the one to point at!
+ This is a BIG project and i rather Germans to have supervision over it! But maybe it would resume when a Reformist becomes president.
iman08 March 1st, 2009, 09:40 PM to sina sina: I think you misunderstood me. The man who was interviewed was against any big project in Kish which damages the environment and so he said for an example of the environmental damages in Kish, that the land used for the project of "Flower of the east" is now environmental damaged. Now they started a second project and he says, that this project will also damage the environment of Kish, so they should stop... . He says, that the project is temporally/forever stopped and the land in which the project was planned is now environmental damaged for nothing, because it is stopped. I think it is clear, that the project is not stopped due to environmental reasons. I rather think, that it is stopped due to financial costs (because of the world crisis). They didn't give any reason, but environment is surely not their reason.
to all : There isn't written, that it is stopped forever, maybe they resume after the world crisis. The German company may return. The possibility of that is very high, because in the near future the relation of Iran with the west improoves surely (note: The US is going to negotiate with Iran...).
sinasina March 1st, 2009, 10:16 PM Dear Iman, i am sure that construction has alot of complications and produces lots of waste by product ! but What is the solution? How did they built Hotels in Hawaii? Did they damaged the Environment?!
iman08 March 2nd, 2009, 12:20 AM I know what you mean and I share your opinion. I just said what the environmentalist said in the interview, but I am sure, that the reason of the stop wasn't the environment of Kish, it was rather their financial problems.
I hope they resume the project in the near future.

Persiancat May 25th, 2009, 10:04 PM So, is the project canceled or still going?
persian July 10th, 2009, 04:56 PM no more news?
Adaei99 July 13th, 2009, 01:44 PM I will say, I am pretty surprised that there haven't been more photos of the model at the airport or from people looking around.
I guess with all that is or has gone on in Iran/Tehran, a lot of things have taken a back seat or have been re-evaluated in case part of a 'spy' or 'coercion' is involved....the shape of that tower is starting to look like the British are trying to unleash evil!! hahaha
I guess Kish relies more heavily on the mainland and gov't than I would like to think.
iman08 July 14th, 2009, 02:08 AM ^^I think it is on hold because of economic reasons and not political... .

QWECXZ April 4th, 2010, 06:48 AM from what I see on wikipedia the project has been canceled. It was obvious from the beginning that they can't handle such a huge project!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flower_of_the_East (Status canceled)
the website too isn't up any longer, so this means that we should say good bye to our dreams about the FOE.
Persan April 4th, 2010, 07:42 PM I believe that the German architectural firm sold the plans to an Abu Dhabi firm and renamed it something like the Pearl of the East. The central hotel is going to be the Regent Hotel Abu Dhabi.
shugs April 4th, 2010, 11:32 PM In that case I think we have all the information we need on this controversial project. So I have locked it. I think I can speak for all of us to say that it is a real shame that it never came to fruition. PM me if you have any new info and I'll re-open it with pleasure.
