I doubt it's a real proposal, just seems like an idea at the moment. But that plot of land is available and is just getting grassed over when Palestra is complete.

It's not that bad actually. Very similar to Bankside Lofts which looks great with its surroundings - and brings a much needed splash of colour to the skyline. Could work quite well with Roger's plan for Bankside 4 but as before I'm concerned about the presence of these towers getting closer and closer to St Paul's, even though they are on the other side of the river.

This is Bankside Lofts by the way by Tate Modern

How could bankside lofts get a height increase!?!? its already built & I doubt the residentwho owns the penthouse would take to kindly to having an extra floor added.

With regard Bankside4 Land Secs sold the site on recently so I dont know if the new owners are sticking with the original Rogers design-whatever that looked like

because the guy who owns the penthouse is having another floor stuck on it.

I think PAlestra needs something like that tower next to it, it takes away her bulk

London desperately needs something with a bit of colour on its skyline - glass just reflects the grey sky.

That bit of Southwark is going to end up looking like a colourblind person has been playing lego :ohno:

I've been through there on the Thameslink a couple of times and I don't like what I see

This are ahs so much potential. There's relatively little to prserve which means our architects, planners, and developers get an opportunity to rebuild a new urban district. That's what I love about London compared to, say, Paris. :)

i like this, i like the warm feel in comparison to the cold glass in the city...

Stick some sails on it and make it like a giant windmill - now that would liven up the skyline.

Whats happening with the 44 hopton st tower next to the Tate- didn't the new owners say months back they would be constructing this year??

actually ill email the guy i know and ask him. he said that they had bought the scheme with the explicit intention of constructing it.

I think this is superb. I try not to get hopeful though as it looks like it is just a 'concept' design to act as marketing for the architects.

It doesn't look bad, although I'm not a fan of wood cladding and the base doesn't look great. Still I'm always in favour of a little colour on the skyline.

i like it, the tapering shape at the top reminds me of the Bishopsgate Tower. More resi needed around Blackfriars Road, bit of a community spirit would be good. The mustard coloured Bankside Lofts is a cracking little building as well.

awful? thats wood cladding!

I really like it especially if its actually built with that wood cladding ! But Gothicform is that plain wood cladding or is it actually yellow ? Oh and I hope you got my email :)

I know, what I would do to live in that place! Would like to see that shape and look replicated across London for residential purposes

Detest it, if there is to be a tower beside Palestra, then it at least needs to compliment its design.. I feel.. I'd much rather have a glass wall tower with a continuation or similair facade to Palestra.. This is just giving the area too much a mish mash..IMO

In this weeks AJ- Blacfriars investments have decided to build a highly exciting low rise travelouge instead of this tower. The reason they give is that CABE criticised the design of the tower so there going for the other option.

More like they cant be bothered with the time, cost & investment in the scheme and going for travelodge.

lol, the day I`ll see an exciting travel lodge or holiday Inn

they are like Urban parasites along with NCP car parks. Cant believe Camden let Travel Lodge occupy this derelict 60s monster near the British Museum after their own development plan said how the area should be low rise and mended after the disasterous planning interventions of the past 30 years... idiots
