Hey all

Thought i'd post a few pictures of some planned(and hopefully soon to be approved) projects in Copenhagen that i hadn't heard about before:

We start with Rigsarkivet, which was originally planned for construction in Ørestaden, but that was apparently too expensive. The plans as of now, are to use the old freight depot, along with a good section of the rail line, between Hovedbanegården and Fisketorvet, for an entirely new urban community, complete with congress center, appartments, offices and parks, along with, of course, the new Rigsarkiv (something along the line of a public record office)

Next is Islands Brygge syd. This area has already seen a fair share of construction, but now plans are for the entire area just south of The Gemini Residence, to be turned into a huge mix of appartments, offices and even a beach!

This area is as of now, just a wasteland of old run down factories, and abandonned building, so i really hope they approve of this plan.

The pedestrian and bike bridge between Islands Brygge and Fisketorvet will be completed sometime during the summer of 2006, if everything goes according to plan

The last project isn't as huge as the two others, but still i think it's looks pretty cool. The plans are for sort of a public square on top of Magasin department store

the roof top tarase has been covered in this thread http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=240251

but the drawing for the rigsarchive might be new...but there is a thread about it somewhere....Sadly the search funktion is gone, and it makes it hard to find things...

It's always nice to see that new things are on their way... but most of it is too green and too low for me... :sleepy:

Take Rigsarkivet f.ex Here we have an area with very few people living near by... It would be the perfect place for some 100m+ towers... We have enough green areas in Downtown... now we need some towers to put us on the map!

Everytime they build some lowrise building they have juged the area for the next 100 years + :bash:

We need a lot of new appartment in Copenhagen... why not use the area for buildings insted of fields and trees... we have that 500m away on Amager :bleep:

Well, the Rigsarkivet will definately improve the view I have out of this window. All I see now is the greyish trainyard with S-togs/Ø-tog/Re-tog etc. swooshing by all the time. Rigsarkivet will be located on the other side of the street from Kalvebod Brygge offices where I work..

I have no clue - you're the Copenhagen courier here. ;)

I don't know if it has been written about in here, but there's gonna be a walking bridge over the water between Islands Brygge and Kalvebod Brygge in the future. I think they're gonna start building it in the beginning of next year. This allows many Malmø commuters that work on "this side" to take the Metro to Islands brygge and simply walk over to Kalvebod... instead of going all the way to Hovedbanegården and take the S-tog/walk from there.

I agree.

They have a great chance to build something great out there, and also in the area between Sydhavnen and Fisketorvet, but they choose to build in the same low-rise style as everywhere else in the city.

That being said, i'm just happy they're building something as it is one of the most boring places in the city

THere is a thread about it...somewhere... It actually looks pretty nice, and its not gonna be a normal bridge that goes up, when it opens for the boats, but rather a section ofit swings from side to side....Pretty cool....Anyways, i think its great that you will save some time for work. I huess that is also part of the plan, as the area is moving fast...

i like the idea. But when i think of the critic there was when ARP hotel wanted to build a 7 story glass tower in the area, i doubt that is possible...But, hey, they got it, so maybe....

Hej Rosinmand, and welcome in theforum :)

We have discussed these projects before, but it's quite a long time ago.
Rigsarkivet is propaply soon through the approval process, but I'm not sure about Høje Torv. Islands Brygge Syd is still in the planning stages I believe...
