thats funny about the whole development as I can clearly remember the developers (council was one partner) sdaying that 80% of the plots were sold and that was like 5 years ago.
I think the ridge just killed them.
this idea was borrowed from Norwich group offices in claremont in slap stad which is a wonderful setting and it has these beautiful old oaks around the pitch.

This place is coming along nicely, still no word on complition dates, maybe I should speak to the guys at Key Projects. The right wing id fully tiled & looks like its complete, the underground parking is done, just the front & the water feature left.

I have been told be people at std bank that alot of them have moved in already tho

SA BOY

has this caused any other developments around the oval apart from toyota?

Durbsboi
February 28th, 2007, 07:35 AM
I have been told be people at std bank that alot of them have moved in already tho

Ok, then they must be in the right wing, the part thats not attached to the main building, coz that looks complete.

has this caused any other developments around the oval apart from toyota?

Well, this place is pretty massive, so it takes up almost 65% of the NMR Road side of the Kingsmead oval Office Park, but theres another small block of Offices coming up in Somsteu Road, inbetween KPMG/ Marriot house & Portnet.

SA BOY
February 28th, 2007, 08:27 AM
its a pity cos the kingsmead oval development had such potential but it launched just after Umhlunga ridge and corporates prefered that enviroment

Durbsboi
February 28th, 2007, 08:29 AM
I still feel it has potential, Some accounting firms that audit the council can also set up shop in the park ,seeing that most goverment buildings are located in the area & walking distance from the Office Park.

SA BOY
February 28th, 2007, 08:57 AM
I always thought it would get a strong legal set up as the courts are close simmilar to salmon grove in Smith St

dysan1
February 28th, 2007, 01:25 PM
And Al Barakka Bank are building their HQ in the Kingsmead zone too. 5F Glass, brick and steel, next to KPMG facing the city

SA BOY
February 28th, 2007, 01:32 PM
excellent but it still sound like its less then 50% developed

dysan1
February 28th, 2007, 08:20 PM
^^ STD Bank took up 60% of the Kingsmead land, so it is most def in the 80% developed ranged now

SA BOY
March 1st, 2007, 04:14 AM
including the plot behind the SABC?

Durbsboi
March 1st, 2007, 08:36 AM
^^No thats still vacant.

Heres from what I can remember off hand.

1. Standard Bank
2. Toyot Lexus
3. I think theres 2 buildings on this plot, will double check tomorrow. 1 is portnet & the other one os still being built.

Then theres KPMG/ Marriot.
Not sure what building that is behind KPMG

Well i think they will go quick considering the emphasis the city is putting on the area

Jakes1
March 5th, 2007, 09:46 AM
Oooh! Four floors! How utterly exciting... Glad you guys found the time to post this development and rave about it. If it was in joburg or pretoria or any other city it would not have attracted any attention. I think it was pule who was told to keep his four storey pretoria developments to himself. Remember the Brooklyn Stone (4 storey) development? Someone told him its SSC, not office park central... But of course in durban 4 storeys would look like skyscrapers - because of the height above sea level? Just wondering...

To all of you durb guys sending off evil personal emails now - I am just joking... But really guys - 4 floors? And it gets a seperate thread? mmmm...

Durbsboi
March 5th, 2007, 11:08 AM
Dude, its not about the height, its about the size, this place is flippin HUGE! if you have to stand it up on its side, it will easily touch 30-40 storeys

SA BOY
March 5th, 2007, 01:19 PM
its a ground scraper and i always check every single 2F thread. this whole thing is about development per say not just towers (otherwise we would win hands down)

Durbsboi
March 5th, 2007, 03:13 PM
Comfirmation, the KPMG new extension is almost complete, took a drive past there today, & this place from the back looks amazing, only thing the Std BAnk blue signs are up, so its spoiling the look.

dysan1
March 6th, 2007, 01:19 PM
Yarrick its a 16000m2 development, and its Std banks new regional office. i think it has some importance compared to a non descript 3F 2000m2 development in sunninghill

Jakes1
March 6th, 2007, 02:12 PM
Hooboy - opened up a potential hornets nest here. Ah well, at least it has elevators... and its in durban, making it uber important

relax guys! just a small observation. I think I am just irritated because us jozi and pretoria people don't get time to share our developments as diligently

SA BOY
March 9th, 2007, 04:48 AM
16k of office space is about a 16 F tower so its also keeping the banks in the city unlike Nedbank in joeys and hopefully boosts the area around Kingsmead and stimulates more developments there

Durbsboi
March 9th, 2007, 07:47 AM

Finally went inside this building yesterday. It's great. I started taking pics but suddenly found security guards rushing over to me. I think they thought I was staking out the joint or something. LOL! They asked if I got authorisation to take pics. I said no and left quickly before they confiscated my camera. Thus, sorry for the relatively poor quality of the pics. They do, however, give you an idea of what the place looks like inside. I didn't manage to get good pics of the foyer or external as there were guards patrolling outside too.

Inside, once you pass the security check. This is north-facing.
