built 1907-1912 by Hermann Martine Hammitzsch as a Factory, producing Cigarettes. The 1886 founded "Oriental Tobacco- and Cigarette fabric Yenize" got its name from an area in Turkey which was famous for its tobacco. The outside of the Steel construction is pre-dominated by Moorish stile elements as well as a "Minaret", which surrounds the building. Because the whole building has a very oriental appearance it is called the "Tobacco-mosque".

Under the dome is a restaurant, from its restaurant terrace on the following roof one has one an outstanding view across the city. The dome is a regular stage for fairy tale performances

Men , rate it higher . You must always aware it was build as a tobacco- factory (!) about 100
years ago , the tallest minarett ( mosque - tower ) has been used as a chimney .

how did this survive the nazi occupation? (I would of thought its very defiant non-Germanic appearance and aesthetic would have made it an easy target for demolition?? its nice (if a little on the novelty side) for its purpose
