I can field that..
I commuted from Hamilton to TO for about 6 months.
I found the best way to use GO was to catch the Union Station Express bus. The train may bypass traffic, but it has an inflexible schedule IMO. The Express Bus runs appox. every 20 minutes at peak times, and every 1/2 hour for the rest of the day. The first one goes around 5am, the last one near midnight. It's fantastic. And it goes straight to Union once it leaves, no Mississauga, no Oakville. Often the drivers will use the 407 and other 'secret' shortcuts to make it faster... it's usually just over 1 hour, give or take 15 minutes.
Plus, you can pick up the GO bus at several locations along King St West in the morning, so you don't have to go to the downtown terminal. This is convenient, depending on where you live.

thanks a lot.I really appreciate ur suggestion.one thing more,is there a problem of frequent delays during winter that one should keep in mind.i guess one can use same pass for either bus or train, only difference i found on GO website was that it showed 1 hr 30 min for bus and 1 hr for train.

I think your a Mac student which is even better because there are some GO buses that goes to McMaster and takes you to Union station.

can anyone explain wat does following info from TTC website means....does it mean that GO tranist pass can be used to get return ride of subway without return subway ticket.

TTC Times Two"
TTC and GO Transit Transfers
TTC Times Two - Passengers who ride the TTC immediately before and after a GO Train/Bus trip can use the TTC transfer from their first TTC ride to board the second TTC vehicle.
TTC transfers are valid from the following stations and routes:
From GO Transit Station
To Connecting TTC Service

^ that doesn't seem to make any sense... though I heard there might be a deal in the works to benefit those who use both GO and the TTC.
There was nothing when I commuted... that was about 8 months ago.

If you take the TTC to get to a GO Station and then take the TTC again once you get off GO, your first TTC transfer is still valid.
Example :
Take subway from Dundas to Union - obtain transfer
Take GO Train from Union to Oriole
Take TTC bus from Oriole - use transfer
