No other building holds as much symbolism for Denver as the Wells Fargo Center. Called the "cash register" by locals, the skyscraper's unique crescent roofline has been defining the Denver skyline since its completion in 1983.

Although only Denver's third tallest building, the Wells Fargo Center is by far Denver's most recognizeable skyscraper. Designed by Philip Johnson, the building houses major offices for Wells Fargo bank and serves as the heaquarters for Newmont Mining, the world's largest gold mining concern.

It looks like a cash register and the color isn't all that appealing to me. It is tall though, and does make an impact on the skyline. I'll be nice and give it a 7.
Is there any reason it didn't go 1 foot higher and become a 700 footer?

I like this building. Whenever you see a picture of Denver's skyline, it looks the tallest (even though it isn't). 7.5

A bit funny looking..almost comical. But its still slim and tallish.

The only non boxy part is the top. Take that away and you've got yourself a regular ol' box.

Then it would be ugly and get a 3...

Well, I don't exactly go :banana::banana: over this joint (a bank building after all ;) ). It's pretty boring, but they get a bonus for the upper portion (I'm a sucker for articulated elements). Thus, a 7. :)

I'll give it a five. It's not a sexy box but I like the curves at the top.

8 I've always liked this building. It certainly is distinctive (and controversial)... the top is very unique and innovative.

I like the idea and the height but the building still looks tacky.

It's funny how some windows at the top go all the way out to the curved side and are sort of cut off in the middle.

Apart from the cash register top, the rest of the building is boxy and kinda boring. 7/10

the roof has a cut-off look to it. i mean, look at the windows near the top. yeah, it's monotoned, but i seem to have this thing for brown buildings...

Old FAA rules before the airport moved from Stapleton out east to DIA kept downtown under 700'.

All of the color comments... yeah, it's kind of ugly, but that color is *the* color of Colorado. While it may be "ugly" for a building, it represents Colorado perfectly, and fits its environment very well.

The Wells Fargo building really is the most distinctive of Denver's skyline. 8/10

also, you dont see many buildings out there with a top like that so that is also a plus it is unique and creative

Just plain and very ugly brown building!!! The ugliest I have ever seen!! My first impression when I saw it was "how the heck could someone desighn that and why the heck is it's top like that!!??" It's height is good though. 2/10

it isnt too bad in person, but yes the facade is extremly bland. i do agree with the perso n who said that the color is "Colorado", the color of the building is what Colorado is, its natural, not glass. the base is okay. the only thing that saves the building is the unique top, but with todays standars its mediocre at best.

Unfortunately, the facade is mind-numbingly dull, and extremely dated.

This building also loses a half point (0.5) for the night lighting, which ought to be improved for a landmark building like this.

Cut off the top seven floors (or so) and you are left with just one large box - kinda reminds me of a 70's retangular skyscraper but without the white concrete. I'm going with a 6/10.

I've always known this building and where it is, its iconic. but I had no idea how big it was. Looks huge in some of those pics. The top is entirely what makes it iconic. the color and facade are not too good but i still like it.

That's a funny rooftop. It's cut out "despite" the windows so it doesn't look very serious, which I find strange for such a building. Besides that, it's quite ugly, boxy and uninteresting.
