Besides the typical tourist trap waterfront in Tsim Sha Tsui and the newly opened West Kowloon Cultural District promenade, the eastern part of Hong Kong Island does offer a waterfront view of Kowloon. This part of Victoria Harbour is not often photographed or shown so here it is :

This promenade is located just off the Tai Koo Shing residential development, one of the largest private housing estates from the 1980s. At the height of the property boom, a family-sized apartment here costed US$1 million.

Cross the bridge and you're at the harbour side.

Kwun Tong lies on the other side of the harbour. The tall blue skyscraper is the newly opened APM development. The top of the building bears a Bank of East Asia sign.

Residential skyscrapers in the Yau Tong area, connected by the new Tseung Kwan O subway line.

Harbourfront Landmark now has some company, with Langham Place to the right and another skyscraper under construction next to that.

Another new skyscraper in the Kowloon Bay area is Enterprise 3.

Parts of this promenade are closed for redevelopment. Here is what the future beholds :

It's hard to believe a highway and a maze of residential skyscrapers lie nearby.

Time capsule :

The eastern end of Kowloon does yield to some wilderness.

btw this is Kornhill, a public housing development, right next to, but not part of Tai Koo Shing.

I think Kornhill is part of Tai Koo Shing since the Tai Koo MTR station have exit there.

City Plaza is my favorite in Tai Koo Shing. Especially when I was a kid I would go to Whimsy.

City Plaza has a nice ice skating rink. In fact, there used to be a roller skating rink on the top floor. I don't know if it's still there though.

They really need the zamboni to resurface the ice. I tried both Cityplaza and Festival Walk's ice rinks and they're terrible for skating!
