I'm just curious as to know (for those who live in Japan), have you guys ever travelled to China? If so, which cities?
Also, you've probably all seen pictures of modern Chinese cities... Shanghai, Beijing, Chongqing, and Guangzhou to name a few. I'm wondering what you guys think about them... like in comparison to the major cities in Japan (Tokyo, Osaka, etc.). Do you think they're better, worse, whatever. Just curious to know.

Yes I have and I thought never want to travel there again. The Chinese people aren't very civilized.

Interesting question.
Ive went to Hong Kong,Canton in the early 90s.
Just two months ago I travalled to Beijing,Tanjing,Shanghai and Nanjing.
Here's the verdict.Im going to be honest.
Hong Kong.Very impressieve when I was there on 3 visits in the early 90s.Recently ive used the new airport about 7 times in the past 6 years. The pollution was shocking each time I landed there.
Canton in 1991.while it had some nice old parts,it was generally a terrible mess.Horrific pollution and massive urban decay.Although this was being addressed when I there with lots of new construction going on.Im sure its now a shinny new metropolis like Shanghai.
Shanghai.THE PEAL OF ALL OF AISA in my opinion. The city really imperssed me with its ultra modern skyline mixed in with the Art Deco,French quarter and of course the old chinese city.A shinning example of how good a Chinese city can be.
Beijing. While big on sites(The Great wall,Forbidden city,Summer Palace etc...) the city itself was kind of dissapointing in my opinion. The new parts of the city lacked atmosphere. The streets were just wide featureless avenues of glass and shopping centers with a KFCs,Mc Donalds's and Pizza huts.
While some of the old parts were interesting, they were filthy and unpleasant to walk around after a few hours. The people, unlike Shanghai, were always hasseling you to buy 'trash!!!'.It really got on my nerves after a while.
Nanjing was great!!! Nice wall and people.
Tanjing was also execellent.Nice Architecture from both Eruopean,Chinese and Modern Chinese styles. And no hassels to buy trashy stuff
In General I really enjoyed China and the cities I have visited. If I were to choose to live there it would be Stanley or Sheiko on Hong Kong island or near the French Concession in Shanghai.
