Designed and hand built at the Mclaren Factory in England. Obviously, Mercedes had some imput but mainly Mclaren.

Somewhat true although Mclaren is still British and some of less known ones like TVR, Lister, and Noble are also Britsh - ... MG on the other hand doesn't exist anymore as a company - Jaguar and Aston Martin (both Ford) and Bentley (VW) are subsidiaries of foreign companies - but I think they are still "UK based".

I dont think they have to be owned by britain to be british, really. I mean British desigend and inspired....

Of course they are british.
So are Jaguar, TVR, Aston Martin, Mclaren, Noble, Lotus, MG and Lister German? No. Only Bentley is German Owned out of those. But it doesn't matter. If BP had a majority share in Lufthansa, would that make it a british airline?
