In the spirit of good-will, seen before in past similar threads, I present the Quebec Appreciation Thread.

Consider this my personal expression of affinity pour la belle province. It would be nice to talk about Quebec without the usual disruptive politics that mar an otherwise beautiful relationship. Lets talk history, culture and language. Even if it's artificial, I'd consider myself better off with more Quebec in my life.

Many memories at the great Tremblant also. Greatest ski village in North America IMO, sorry Whistler.

Even though I don't quite understand the hype about poutine, I still love Quebec, a truly amazing and unique experience. I love Montreal and Quebec City especially the historic districts which can't be found anywhere else in Canada....and the hot women :D :okay:

I could talk for hours about Quebec.
It's a beautiful unique place. Nothing matches Quebec City in North America... or the world for that matter.

Whistlers been on top since it past Aspen years ago. Your intitle to your opinion but its wrong.

I love Quebec but they don't need an appreciation thread. I think people in the rest of Canada do to much ass kissing to Quebec.

Would it be fair to say, Montreal has more hot women per capita than any other place in the country? :naughty: :naughty:

BTW an opinion can not be wrong as it is only an opinion.

Whistler has got to be the most overrated and artificial ski village on this continent. No thanks, I'll go for Tremblant, or smaller centres in BC and AB.

I wish I could say that about the west or maritimes. This country is so damn big you need a fortune and a large extended family to truly appreciate it.

^ Hey, no need to bash the "other 8".

Is that second picture still Quebec City? Never seen that angle before and it has a much better skyline than what you'd expect from seeing the other side.

I heart Quebec.

LOL, and Tremblant is so authentic? They are owned by the same company, in fact Tremblant is modeled after Whistler.

Looks pretty artificial to me.

Whistler is more real, its not about the village its about the mountains. There is nothing in Canada comparable east of the rockeys.

Tremblant is just a hill compared to Whistler-Blackcomb.

when me and my family took a vacation and drove across Canada, my two favourite places were Montreal and Quebec City, I just loved the atmosphere, and the historical streets, plus we arrived in Montreal in the middle of the jazz festival, so there was lots to see and do

and when did this thread become about whistler? no one really cares.. :weird:

Read carefully please... Of course the Rockies are taller. And I love them. The comment was regarding the ski village itself, nothing else.

Just because something bears the likeness of another locale (although I do not think they are that similar) means nothing. Whistler probably houses the highest per capita representation of posers anywhere in the world. It is very annoying. Tremblant's atmosphere is laid back and care free, and I don't mean 'laid back' in the "let's smoke pot and talk of how cool we are" spirit of Whistler.

You are simply mistaken in your assertion that no importance ought to be attached to village. The social centre is Whistler is seriously lacking, and this omission impacts the entire experience.

Well i've been to both so I feel I can judge them properly. Look Whistler is obviously the better ski resort overall, but I don't think its village is a nice as Tremblant. Blue Mountain north of Toronto has a village pretty much the exact same as Whistler, Tremblant is the most charming and unique of the 3. Im not talking about the skiing here, im talking the village. And yes I know Whistler and Tremblant along with Blue Mountain are all modelled after one another because they are all run by Intrawest.

The Whistler area was first settled in back in the 1860's when Whistler was originally called London Mountain.

The mountains around Montreal are actually quite impressive and I was surprised when I saw them. It is a very mountainous region.

habsfan
November 17th, 2005, 08:58 PM
Are you sure about that Doady?

There are several small mountains around Montreal(7 I believe) but none of them are really impressive

Here they are...

Mont-Royal 234 meters
Mont St-Bruno 195 meters
Mont St-Hilaire 400 meters
Mont Rougemont 380 meters
Mont St-grégoire 250 meters
Mont Yamaska 410 meters
Mont Shefford 480 meters
Mont Brome a bit over 500 meters

If you wanna see where exactly they are located click on the link..

I think any mountain is impressive for some one from Ontario :)

Whistlers top lift accessible area is over 2.2km high, and you can ski top to bottom. The mountains of Vancouver are about the same height, but they only get snow on the top.

Quebec Appreciation...

I hope that all Quebecers can share in the dream of a strong and united Canada and that they see that each and every province and territory in Canada is unique and special in their own way.

My wish is for separatist ideals to dwindle away and for federalism to grow proud.

My opinion is that I'm really good at arithmetic.

My opinion is that I never make two mistakes in a row.

I agree. An opinion can be wrong. If someone says something that is clearly racist, sexist, homophobic, etc., and defends their remark just because that's what they believe, than it is wrong.

There is never an excuse to discriminate.

That opinion would be wrong.
