The Jewish population at 22% really surprised me! Wonder how many have Latin American connections/roots..?

Please note, that not all religious sects were considered in this survey, therefore the following chart does not represent the entire county population, but rather only that portion of the county population that falls under the parameters of the survey taken.
I don't understand what they mean by this. They have an 'Others' section, dont they... I wonder what their parameters are.

I guess "other" is anything that doesn't fall into those 6 categories (Muslim, Druid, Atheist, Universalist unitarian, Branch Davidian...etc).

I'm surprised people are surprised that the Jewish population is so high. Only New York City has more Jews than Miami. Miami has more Jews than even Tel Aviv! It is the second largest Jewish community in the world. The Jewish community in Miami is heavily, heavily concentrated in northeast Miami-Dade County, especially Avenutra and Sunny Isles Beach, which are probably majority Jewish, as well as Miami Beach, Surfside, and the Upper East Side neighbourhood of Miami. And there are a lot of Jewish latins out there, especially from Cuba and Argentina...I'm one of them.

^^ I totally agree. How often do you see orthodox jews (suits, sideburns and everything) walking around miami beach?

I think Tiger Beer started this thread to start a riot! Glad to see that it isn't working.
Yeah MAH, I know what you are saying. We have a lot of people that are Jewish and from South America in the community. Your post reminded me of the guy that ordered up the "JEWBAN" personalized license plate. Everyone in Miami Beach/Miami knows what that means, but he Tallahassee folks thought it was an anti-semetic sentiment!!! After all, how could someone want to make a statement to BAN JEWS on a license plate!?!?!?!
Pretty hillarious....I love the diversity here, it is beyond compare.

I traveled throughout South America for 10 months.. met TONS of Israelis while travelling.. most backpacker type stuff - hostels, tours (for those on the backpacker budget), etc. were often in English and Hebrew believe it or not.

If and when I hung with Israelis, people would often approach in Hebrew - even locals at times. In short, I met TONS of Jewish Latinos everywhere as well through the travelling Israelis.

As for me, I'm not Jewish though.. but just noticed that numbers down there once travelling around though.

I was also looking at 'latino' percentages and its higher than the 'catholic' percentages.. so makes sense that there are also latinos that are much more diverse than just catholics.
