I thought I'd post up some photos from LA, just to test out my new camera...

Downtown LA from Hollywood:

Century City (west of Downtown, 1 or 2 miles from the beach):

There was a bit of traffic haze, although most of the time it was too cloudy!

What's amazing though is the shelf of smog that covers the beaches in the afternoons. I remember driving out to Santa Monica on a beautifully clear day only to find that it was covered in cloud.

While I remember... I have a quick technical question. I've just reinstalled Photoshop and I'm getting the problme where all my images show up much darker than they should be. I know I've fixed it before but I can't remember how! I've played with the gamma tool but it hasn't worked. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Have to say that LA is one of those cities that has never really grabbed me - just another North America city with little architecture of note. San Franciso seemes to have more going for it. Anyway cool pics, always nice to see other parts of the world.

BJ Billy - hope you had a good time in my adopted home - the weather was crap recently.

LA is one of those cities that takes a while to grow on you but theres some really good parts if you know where to look - lots of redevelopement going on there at the moment -mainy caused by the increasingly ridiulous commuting times.

Great pics, I've got a few of my own from similar vantage points - from Beverly Hills and Hollywood. When I was there a few years ago, the view out of my hotel room was very similar to the first pic, and it was always hazy - I always put it down to traffic because LA is just a huge urban mass in the Californian heat.
