The news is great :eek2: . If the Monarch Hotel is really a six star hotel, it will be a huge step for Kuwait's tourism. In fact this is a big step for Kuwaiti tourism in Kuwait. For foreigners to come to Kuwait, we have to start with Kuwaitis. If and only if Kuwaitis start spending more time in Kuwait (especially during the summer when you can barely find a Kuwaiti) local companies will start investing more in our country, and consequently tourism from foreigners will increase. By the way, the design is not that great from the outside, but we hope better things from the inside.
ChaoticTranquility June 4th, 2006, 11:58 AM hey people.
i've noticed something rather interesting and thought i'd share. i'm a MAJOR fan of hotels, and i know virtually all of the major hotel chains and locations. if you've seen The Monarch Kuwait's websites, the rooms appear to be beautifully done. however, all of the photos they have used, from the lobby to the dining facilities are all from the Mandarin Oriental New York at the AOL Time Warner Center at Central Park. The Monarch Kuwait still hasn't released any interior images, but rather is using images from another hotel. just thought i should point that out.

oh yeah, as Mu9ai3ibun said, the exterior's architecture is FAR from stunning. the hotel's website said that the hotel has been designed to be amazing, but the exterior doesn't really show that. anyway, twenty floors is not an impressive height; if this will go up in Kuwait City as planned, it'll be surrounded by 30-floor+ buildings and will look like a low-rise building. i wish they'd change the concept. another fact: if there will be 360 large rooms on 20 floors, that would mean 18 rooms per floor. the land this hotel would occupy would have to be HUGE if this is true. were the building taller and had a higher floor count, then there could be less rooms per floor, which could expand room size and make the tower more of an architectural landmark.
