Hi, well this is good news in a way although it's a bit late, but nontheless, I hope it achieves somethin, enjoy and let's discuss:
A NATIONAL campaign will be launched shortly against some MPs and extremists accused of stifling personal and public freedoms.
The effort is being launched by six liberal societies with the aim of fighting against those who they say intrude upon the civil liberties or others and harm Bahrain's investment environment.
The initiative is spearheaded by Almuntada (The Forum) and includes the National Democratic Action Society, National Action Charter Society, Al Menbar Democratic Progressive Society, Future Forum Society and Bahrain Journalists Association.
Almuntada chairman Adel Fakhro said a declaration would be issued by the societies shortly which outline the principles the society is advocating.
"We will publish it in the local and regional Press and afterwards a task force will be set up made up of members of various societies," he said.
"We are fed up with the intrusions being made into our personal freedoms and civil liberties. We are seeing more and more actions which threaten freedom so we are standing up against it.
"We are demanding the constitutional rights which allow for freedom of expression."
Almuntada secretary Abdulwahed Ahmed Abdulrahman said the objective was to bring liberal thinkers together against extremism.
"In the last few years there have been many incidents which are having an adverse influence on life in the country," he said.
Mr Abdulrahman cited the legislation passed by parliament aiming to establish a religious police and segregate universities.
He also criticised the uproar made which forced the Big Brother television programme to stop filming in Bahrain and riots sparked by a concert by Lebanese singer Nancy Ajram.
"This is hurting investments and making some people think of leaving the country," he said.
The announcement was made at a meeting attended by around 500 people at the Gulf Hotel's Gulf International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
