Pearl of the Gulf November 23rd, 2005, 02:41 PM you see where the little GCC logo is; that flag and country name would change if you’re not a local.
Bahraini Spirit November 23rd, 2005, 03:05 PM Ya I noticed, well that's cool I mean if they can put your nationality and flag, it will identify you quickly. It will also help people avoid embarassement i.e. whey they get people's countries wrong hehe, you know what I mean.
If I'm not mistaken, this can be used as a bank card? This one should contain everythin about you if am not wrong again?
Pearl of the Gulf November 23rd, 2005, 03:53 PM yeah i think most banks will have services dealing with these cards.
Pearl of the Gulf November 23rd, 2005, 04:25 PM Ok I heard this joke in Arabic but I’m translating it for you guys.
A Bahraini man finds a magic lantern, he rubs it and the genie come out. The genie says, “I can grant you one wish my master”. The man thinks for a second and says, “I want to speak to the spirit of my dead mother”. The genie shouts, “ARE YOU CRAZY DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD IT IS FOR ME TO GRANT YOU THAT WISH.” The man thinks again and asks, “ok I want the Bahraini National team to make it to the world cup”. The genie looks down and says, “where is your mothers grave.”

Pearl of the Gulf November 25th, 2005, 01:26 AM RESIDENTS of Sanabis village staged a rally near Al Dana Mall last night to protest the staging of a concert in their area at the mall.
The "Islamic demonstration" denounced any concert being staged, which corrupted the people's morals, resident and demonstration spokesman Jabber Al Hashash told the GDN.
The concert was performed by Egyptian singer Ehab Tawfique to mark the opening of Teatro restaurant at Al Dana Mall. Mr Al Hashash said the demonstration did not target particular singers but was in condemnation of any concert. "Not just him - maybe they will bring others, like Nancy Ajram," he said.

Exactly, were we go again. Those freakin MPs won't learn and I think we need to boot them out soon or else you'll get this for the next 4 years. If they don't have any power, we can progress.
Havin said that, I respect all opinions but I don't like people tryin to force others to think in a specific manner.
Bahraini Spirit November 25th, 2005, 01:36 AM Maybe they can let her sing ASAP just to piss them off:
Elissa mobbed by adoring fans
FANS mobbed Lebanese pop superstar Elissa at the Asia Jewellers stand at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre yesterday.
The singer and actress made an appearance as part of a celebrity endorsement deal with Swiss watch manufacturer Corum.
Elissa met with fans, signed autographs, posed for photographs and also stopped by the sections of other brands making up the Asia Jewellers booth.
While she was there she said she would be happy to perform in concert in Bahrain at some point in the future.
"I would love to have a chance to interact with my fans in Bahrain on the stage," Elissa told a Press conference.
Hundreds of screaming fans mobbed her during her appearance.
They were mostly women on account of it being an exclusive ladies morning and took photographs on their mobile phones. At a Press conference earlier, Corum area manager Jean-Marc Pequignot announced the company was pleased with the publicity generated by Elissa for their brand and is planning to renew its contract with her for another year.

Skyline-BRN November 25th, 2005, 03:42 AM So guys what are your favourite cafes to chill with your friends in Bahrain?
well for me i really like veranda oh and candles cafe as well! :)
B-Patriot November 25th, 2005, 03:13 PM Bahrain is small, almost everywhere u'll find a residential area nearby...Why are these bloody villagers soo freakin' stupid..! How will an Ehab Tawfeeq concert affect them..!!? Where do they want it to be held, in the middle of the sea!? Or in Sakhir or something..!?
Plus its not just a concert...Its like the opening of Teatro's, isn't it...!? Are they supposed to celebrate their opening somewhere else..! :bash:
B-Patriot November 25th, 2005, 03:18 PM Btw, i was just readint the island thread...with the Jewelery Arabia news...I visited the exhibition yesterday...It was excellent...Very impressive and busy...! I imagine a huge success...
I like the idea of promoting Bahrain as an exhibition centre, only they better promote it properly and do it right, they can't afford any stupidity with this project, as there is strong competition from Dubai...And where will they be expanding the Exhibition centre...??
What they could do i believe is expand onto the carpark...At least one side of it, and build a multi-storey carpark in the other remaining car park space...They really need to build a muulti-storey carpark...Its a smart idea and much needed...!
But maybe my guess would be they'll use the nearby land, between Bahrain mall, and the Exhibition itself...Where there was a temporary theme park about a couple of years ago..!
B-Patriot November 25th, 2005, 03:19 PM Alsoo why are they soo afraid of Nancy Ajram..?? Hahahaha...It's soo funny and stupid...
Bahraini Spirit November 25th, 2005, 10:27 PM So guys what are your favourite cafes to chill with your friends in Bahrain?

There are soo many good cafes around, depends. I like Maggies, nothin too sophisticated but quite chilled. Candles is very nice, owned by a family member, but I've only been there once. Veranda and Chase are good. Depends on my mood really.
About those demonstrators, ignore them. As they say, "5alhom e2thnoon fee 5araba".

Pearl of the Gulf November 28th, 2005, 01:27 AM Villagers in certain areas in Bahrain are not amused at being taken for a ride!
Residents of Diraz, Karbabad and Al Diya are now looking for a quack who sold them what he claimed was locally-made Viagra, at between BD5 and BD10 for a weekly dose, as the Ministry of Health sent out a warning to the people to be aware of consuming such concoctions.
“This can result in near fatal consequences,” said a spokesperson, adding that the ministry, in an earlier alert, had sounded out how an Arab national was selling not only anti-impotency drugs but also claimed a cure for obesity.
“We were alerted by some of the villagers who decided to cross-check with us,” claimed the spokesperson. He said a sample was also obtained for testing, results for which are awaited.
“Even if it is found to be harmless, it is still a case for us to investigate,” he said. “We have also been told that the villagers parted with between BD5 and BD10 for a week’s dose of the drug.”
It is learnt that the quack, alleged to be an Arab, first made an appearance 10 days ago and started his operations from Al Diya village. “Soon, word spread and he expanded his operations to Diraz.”
He said an official investigation has still not started since there has been no formal complaint. “We estimate that around 200 people have fallen victim to the fake doctor already.”
Meanwhile, a Salmaniya Medical Complex doctor said there is no question of the genuine Viagra being sold over the counter. “This is a prescription drug and no pharmacist can ever do it without one.” He said the drug is particularly risky for those suffering from high blood pressure, cardiac problems and diabetes and they should take medical advice before going in for it.
“The issue is that any doctor can now prescribe it but it is the medic’s duty to make the patient aware of the risks.”
Pearl of the Gulf November 28th, 2005, 01:30 AM maybe it’s a secret government operation to sterilise the villagers. :D
Bahraini Spirit November 28th, 2005, 03:09 AM Karbabadian Viagra :hahaha: lol. These people should not just buy anythin.
About Jackson's donation for the mosque:
SOURCES close to pop superstar Michael Jackson denied rumours that he was planning to donate money for the building of a mosque in Bahrain.
The reports, which appeared in newspapers and websites around the world, quoted 'spokesmen' claiming the mosque was being built as a gesture towards the people of Bahrain.
The sources told the GDN that people who were quoted were former spokesmen who may have an agenda against Mr Jackson.
"It is absolutely not true. These rumours were spread by ex-spokesmen," said the source.
He said he could not confirm rumours that the pop singer had converted to Islam and that as far as he knew Mr Jackson was a Catholic.
Meanwhile, the superstar is continuing his tour of the Gulf. After over a month in the UAE, Mr Jackson is now said to be taking in the scenery in Oman. "He is currently there but we expect him to come back to Bahrain in about a week to 10 days," said the source.
Mr Jackson first came to Bahrain on June 29 as a guest of Southern Governor Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
There have also been rumours that Mr Jackson had bought real estate in Bahrain, which was also earlier denied.
However, Bahrain is currently the pop star's legal home, it was revealed after he was summoned for jury duty. His lawyers told California court officials that he would not be able to serve because he was no longer living at his Neverland Valley Ranch fulltime and that Bahrain was his new home.
Pearl of the Gulf November 29th, 2005, 03:32 PM Bahraini Spirit is it possible to get a Bahraini banner for the site for the 16th of December; can you ask someone if they’ll approve it? If so who here has talent and knows photoshop that can do one for us?
Pearl of the Gulf November 29th, 2005, 03:44 PM I remember reading a slogan somewhere for last year’s national day “33 years of independence on 33 islands, Bahrain”.
Dubai-King November 30th, 2005, 12:23 AM I had a feeling that the Michael Jackson donating to a Mosque was a rumor...
And also, what;s funny is there was this old GDN article that said that the average Bahraini likes Nancy Ajram.
But it was a silly article anyway.

Sherri Herman has a word to the wise for anyone considering doing a real estate development in the Middle East: Don't.
The 47-year-old principal of the Herman Group of Companies LLC in Dallas devoted nearly five years to four master-planned projects in Dubai and Bahrain.
These were mind-bogglingly large – office towers, retail centers, theme parks, homes of every sort, sports venues, entertainment complexes, wild-animal parks, aquariums, golf courses, manmade lakes, marinas and a plethora of five-star resort hotels – to draw tourists and business to the Persian Gulf (commonly called the Arabian Gulf in the Arab countries that border it).
These "live, work and play projects" would be worth a total of $12 billion. But now they won't be built – at least not under the orchestration of Ms. Herman.
She says she's been duped and dumped.
Ms. Herman contends that the governments of Dubai and Bahrain usurped her master plans and essentially killed her company. She doesn't have the millions she owes vendors and has little recourse other than to go public about her plight.
People who worked with her on the projects say she's partially to blame. Ms. Herman had a remarkable concept but couldn't nail down her financial backing without a development contract. She signed weak agreements that didn't give her legal protection. And her local contacts exaggerated their sway with the decision-makers.
But they also corroborate the essence of her story: Her grand vision has been blatantly ripped off.
"Sherri was for real but naive," says one sympathetic compatriot.
(And forgive me, but I don't have contacts inside these royal domains to get their takes on the topic.)
Making the contacts
Ms. Herman's tale reads like a plot for a made-for-TV movie.
In 2000, this Texas businesswoman was a tourist in Dubai when she stumbled onto the opportunity of a lifetime. The government wanted to build a theme park.
She envisioned something much, much larger. And having been in the real estate securities, syndication and investment trust business since 1989, Ms. Herman figured she had the connections to pull it off.
"The goal wasn't to be the developer but to bring in global leaders in the various fields – many of whom I'd worked with in the past."
She hired Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum Inc. (HOK) in Dallas to develop large-scale master plans and Kissinger – as in Henry – McLarty Associates in Washington to help navigate the tricky bureaucracy of the United Arab Emirates.
She enlisted strategic partners – including Metro Goldwyn Mayer Studios Inc., Clear Channel Communications Inc. and golfing legend Greg Norman's White Shark Enterprises Inc. – to come on board once she sealed a deal for Desert Kingdom Dubai.
But negotiations fell apart late last year, when Dubai demanded contact information for the companies she'd lined up, and Ms. Herman refused.
Bahrain sees potential
About that time, the Royal Court of Bahrain stepped in: Come here instead, they begged.
In January, she and the government signed a memorandum of understanding for Ms. Herman to lead $5 billion in projects, including Desert Kingdom Bahrain.
She met with Bahrain's king, crown prince and prime minister. It was enough to make a Texas girl's head swim.
The Bahrainis also wanted Coral Island – a reclamation project at the country's southern tip – to be transformed into a destination resort similar to the Atlantis project in the Bahamas.
The king's favorite project was Race World, a $2 billion, 1,500-acre multi-use development built around the country's existing Formula One racetrack.
Given such a royal welcome, she put Dubai on the back burner.
Then in April, negotiations in Bahrain hit the same nasty snag. Bahraini representatives wanted her master plans, financial data, marketing research, strategic partner information and a copy of her agreement for Desert Kingdom Dubai.
This time she caved. "We'd come so far and knew that the king wanted the projects. I figured what else did we have to lose?"
She quickly found out. Sixteen days after she forked over the information, the Bahrainis sent a letter saying thanks but no thanks.
Her materials were returned with something extra: a secretly collected dossier on her. "I don't know if somebody there wanted me to see this character assassination," Ms. Herman says, adding that the dossier is "really good fiction. Laughable, if it weren't so damaging."
Three months ago, Ms. Herman and her team were unexpectedly invited back to Bahrain. Her five-person entourage was supposed to leave Oct. 17. "The last e-mail I received was on Sept. 28th asking who was coming so the economic development board could take care of arrangements." She hasn't heard a word since, despite repeated pleas.
Last week, she heard that a similar project had been announced on her project's land.
Michael Jenkins feels her pain but isn't surprised by her story.
The man best known as the impresario of the Dallas Summer Musicals is also, oddly enough, a leading consultant in developing theme parks, water parks, museums and sports complexes around the globe.
His Dallas-based company, Leisure and Recreation Concepts Inc., has eight Middle Eastern entertainment projects completed or in the works – including an amusement park shaded under massive tents in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Countries in this part of the earth are extremely competitive and often pitch ethics to the wind, Mr. Jenkins says, speaking from experience.
"They see nothing wrong with taking in someone's presentation and then saying, 'Thank you very much. Goodbye,' " he says. "Then the minute the door shuts, they gather around and say, 'Now, how can we build this?'
"Many people with good intentions who are honest, reliable and respected in their industries have gone there to do business and been misled."
So how does Mr. Jenkins thrive in this environment?
He depends on trustworthy long-term local relationships and gets his money upfront.
Steve Janeway, director of design at HOK Dallas, says his architectural engineering firm is probably out the $750,000 Ms. Herman owes.
"We've always worked with Sherri on a friendly, good faith relationship of supporting her efforts. It's sad to see how this has hurt her personally."
Intriguing ideas
Mr. Janeway, who's designed projects in the Middle East for more than a decade, says HOK knew the pitfalls but was intrigued by the possibilities when it joined the venture three years ago.
"Think about it," he says. "Had either of the Desert Kingdom projects happened, it would have been between a $6 [billion] and $9 billion investment. And if you look at this project closely, it's perfect for that part of the world. That's what got everybody jazzed.
"But somewhere along the way it got off the rails. I don't know exactly how or why."
Rich Klein of Kissinger McLarty says the failure of these deals isn't a blanket indictment of doing business in the Middle East, but it is a sharp reminder that the cultures are extremely different.
"Dozens of people there worked very hard to get Sherri's projects to happen," says Mr. Klein, the international consulting company's director for the Middle East and the Arabian Gulf.
"These are small markets that have worked in traditional and familial-bound ways for centuries. The key to success is having the right reputable partners on the ground. In these cases, Sherri bet on the wrong horses.
"It's a shame how this is playing out. If it had been a hit, it would have been a heck of a story."
Does Ms. Herman feel naive?
"Looking back now, yeah," she says. "I was the optimistic holdout, truly expecting them to do the right thing. I had to get to the point where I realized they never would."

Pearl of the Gulf December 8th, 2005, 02:16 AM 08/12/2005
Years ago, the government of Bahrain was stern in every aspect. It rejected openness and continued to prevent Bahraini opposition leaders from returning home. It also refused to release hundreds of political prisoners. Back then, we continuously criticized such policies and numerous parties urged the Bahraini regime to open up and engage in dialogue.
This is now history. The country has since opened up, a new constitution promulgated, free elections have been conducted, political prisoners have been released, and freedom of opinion and institutions respected.
However, history seems to be repeating itself in some ways as a number of Bahrainis now resort to the very extreme measures practiced by the government before reform. They seek to escalate, instigate and reject everything including dialogue with the government. The boycott spirit, negativity, extremist concepts and fiery slogans have taken control of some opposition groups.
A democratic state cannot survive without understanding and compromise. If the government believes that it could enforce its policies upon its citizens, or if government rejects dialogue and negotiations, the state of understanding will collapse. Likewise, if the opposition believes it could impose its program without dialogue or negotiations then this too will not only lead to a dead end but will also harm the democratic process.
The Bahraini opposition and especially the more extremist trends need to reconsider reality because the extremist mentality and its attempt to deny all that has been achieved, and the 'all or nothing' attitude will benefit nobody. Rather, such a mentality only harms the opposition itself.
The Bahraini opposition should openly condemn destructive behavior such as the sabotaging of buildings or the burning of cars. Such behavior is not that of a civilized opposition of a democratic society. The persistence of such political escalations with or without a cause is of no benefit to anyone. Much can be achieved in this small country through understanding and negotiation and the marginalization of these concepts is a blocked path of which we should highlight its dangers.

Bahraini Spirit December 9th, 2005, 01:27 AM BAPCO officials suspected of fraud will be handed over to police by investigators probing financial irregularities at the company, it was declared yesterday.
A consulting firm appointed by a Bapco committee to investigate irregularities in how lucrative contracts were farmed out will complete its probe by the end of the month.
The investigation committee, appointed by Bapco chairman Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, in turn appointed PricewaterhouseCoopers to conduct a detailed financial probe.
Investigators have been examining documents and questioning officials in the company's purchasing and materials departments.
The three-member committee includes chairman Khalid Fakhro and members Adel Al Maskati and Hassan Al Binfalah, all of them Bapco board members.
Its probe is into violations revealed in the Financial Audit Bureau's 2004 report.
Any official suspected of violations will be handed over to the Public Prosecution, the committee said yesterday. It said the board had given it full jurisdiction to facilitate its work to find the party or individuals behind the violations.
Bapco will offer whatever documents required by the consulting firm, said Mr Al Maskati.
"We want to be as transparent as possible and we are expecting a fair report from the consultant," he told the GDN.
"According to the terms of reference, the consultant will have complete freedom to check any document they require .
"They can go deeper into the case to find if there are any misappropriations."
The committee will act in the most transparent and unbiased manner, said Mr Al Maskati.
""The consultant is required to complete their study by the end of the month," he added.
The committee will then present it to the Bapco board. A detailed report will then be submitted to Prime Minister Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa.
The National Audit Court (NAC) in its 2004 annual review, said Bapco failed to abide by rules and regulations when it came to contract-tendering, purchase processing or internal regulatory mechanisms.
Bapco's alleged irregularities were listed as follows:
lSeveral contracts worth more than BD10,000 were not reported to the Tender Board for bids to be invited .
lPurchase contracts worth between BD10,000 and BD100,000 were not tendered off.
l Several contracts involving substantial Bapco purchases were fragmented so as to circumvent tendering rules and regulations.
Awarding contracts restrictively to a minority of importers for over 10 years although they are not the only suppliers in Bahrain.
Bahraini Spirit December 9th, 2005, 01:28 AM Here we go again:
A DRUNKEN guest wrecked his hotel room, smashed the window and then jumped from the first floor as security staff tried to get in.
A friend sharing the room was so drunk that he slept through the whole drama and staff had to throw cold water over him to wake him.
The 26-year-old Saudi who jumped from the window escaped with minor injuries.
He was arrested and was still in custody yesterday, said East Coast Hotel operations manager Zarar Khan.
He said the two men checked into the hotel, behind the Gosi complex on Exhibition Road, on Tuesday.
The incident happened after a daytime drinking binge elsewhere.
They returned to the hotel at about 8.30pm and locked themselves in the room.
Mr Khan said he was in the lobby when he heard the sound of breaking glass and went outside with other staff to investigate.
"We saw glass falling to the ground, so we sent security staff to the room, but the door was locked from the inside," he said.
"The security staff came back downstairs to get the master key and then we saw the guy had jumped from the window.
Mr Khan said the man was only slightly injured, but lay on the ground and did not attempt to escape.
"He did not know where he was, in Saudi, Dubai or Bahrain," he said.
Staff called police and the man was taken to Hoora Police station, where he was still being held yesterday, said Mr Khan.
When security staff entered the room, they found the curtains torn down, the window smashed and drinks spilled all over the floor.
The other was still asleep, "dead drunk", said Mr Khan.
"We tried to wake him, but he was not getting up, so we had to throw cold water on his body," he said.
"When he got up he was acting like a madman and then he crawled like a cat back under the blanket and went to sleep."
The man was also arrested, but was released for two days to return to Saudi and bring back money to pay for the damage, said Mr Khan.
Dubai-King December 9th, 2005, 06:18 PM Another drunken Saudi story.

I need your help in finding a good detailed map of Bahrain and more of the project small images like the ones below. I’ll make it in the form of an index with numbers marking the location on the map and a key to give a description and price.

The threads you see are 1/5th of what we have.
The place needs organization. It's not about how many projects you have, the UAE section is structured differently, this is only 3 subforums, they have more.
This forum has been goin on for a while now and it's about time we made it better. It will make things easier for everyone :).

Bahraini Spirit December 12th, 2005, 03:13 AM DONORS are being roped in to help raise cash for mobile medical care for the elderly - and put Bahrain into the records book.
The aim is to create the world's longest money rope.
Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation acting president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa will officially open the event, at 12.30pm on Friday, as part of the National Day celebrations.
It is being organised by the Information Ministry in co-ordination with Murad Events, the Tourism Activity Society (now under formation) and Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS).
Present at the opening will be diplomats, dignitaries, ministry officials and other invited guests.
BRCS secretary general Sadeq Al Shehabi said the aim was to raise BD30,000 during the one-day event, to purchase two mobile hospital units for the elderly, to take medical care to people in their homes.
"The 2,200-metre rope will be set up at the corniche, starting from the Al Fateh Mosque, to the shell roundabout by the Diplomat Radisson SAS Hotel," he explained.
"People can donate money through stapling the cash to the rope, with the assistance of volunteers."
Mr Al Shehabi said police would be stationed near the rope to make sure no-one steals the money. "I have faith in the honesty of the people of Bahrain and I'm sure no one will try to steal money that is going to a good cause," he said.
"The police will be there as a precaution and I hope everything goes smoothly."
Mr Al Shehabi said it was hoped the event would make the Guinness World Records.
macgyver December 10th, 2006, 02:33 PM The worst Service from a Bank
My Name is Full Name, I have been using a NBB for more than one year.
The service is acceptable, compare it with the services I usually get from my bank.
I don't know, maybe they don't train their staff about the customer services, and how to run a service company.
How can I sure that NBB is the worst service bank in Bahrain?
I used to get new credit card, anywhere in a bank .. usually 2 weeks.
However almost 3 months, this NBB cannot deliver me a single replacement of credit card.
Below is the story.
I have a credit card from NBB (it was Visa Card). I never been able to use this credit card for online transaction in ebay, amazon and other.
(it was maybe in August or September 2006). Their staff is suggesting me to change the credit card from Visa to Master Card so that I can use it for internet transaction.
Then I request to replace the credit card from Visa to Master Card and will collect it from the bank, main branc/head office in NBB tower Manama.
As I was a bit busy, I went to collect my credit card a bit late, and the staff was saying they have already sent it through snail mail.
But because of my office has recently moved to other location, I never received the letter nor the credit card.
One month after, .... having been of tired of calling and wasting my mobile credit .... contacting every number they asked ... 17205727, 17205741, 17205707, 17214433, 17225151..etc..
during the last one month, based on their suggestion I was asking to re-request to make credit card replacement.
Then I went to Riffa branch of NBB, and filling out a form of card replacement. ( somewhere in October 2006 ). I also request that I will collect the card in NBB Tower / Main branch.
It happened again, ...
I called those number to check .. here and there .... asking if the credit card was ready or not .....
They aswer is almost the same ...
asking my credit card number ... or asking CPR number ....then asking my phone number ....
Haahh ... I have been doing this process during the last two months ...
and one thing ... they always say that they will call me ...
all of them are LIAR ...or ... maybe FORGET .... I don't know.
I could not get any information whether my credit card was ready or not ... until my vacation time was coming ...
I went outside bahrain for 11 days ..
Getting back in Bahrain ..
I managed to know that .. they already sent me the credit card .. using post mail ... ( Again !!! )
The reason was ... they said that they have been waiting in the main branch but nobody collect the credit card
The past two weeks ... the Credit card centre staff and the call center staff ... have been successfully playing me around ....by playing ping pong game ...
"Call this number ...."
"Contact the credit card centre"
"give this querry number"
"we will call you on tuesday"
"we will check and call you"
Now ..
I am here ...
for the past 3 weeks ...
I am very tired and upset with the services the NBB gives me
Today, I cannot say anymore ....
I call them .. and shoot them ...^&@%&#%T&%@#^%#&%@^&#%&Q
I finally have to call their manager ...
they gave me 2 names ... Manoj and Mustafa with respective phone number 17205666 and 17205777
I called them both ...
Leave voice mail box in 5666 and hang up rudely by 5777
It comes to my conclusion that ... NBB doesn't know how to run a service company.
Should I close my account in NBB? ... most probably ...
Let us see, what do they follow this up.
I think Batelco does the customer service much way better than NBB ...
even the Batelco CEO is willing to communicate with customer like me ... to show that Batelco is truly a service company
Someone who is upset with NBB's service,

Man.... you should close your account tmorrow and move to another bank.
I suggest either Ahli United Bank or BBK as i have some good experience with them. specially Ahli United Bank
Bahraini Spirit December 12th, 2006, 11:39 PM I have a few credit cards and one of them is NBB, I still use it here in the UK at times. Well those things happen in big banks, bureacracy, nothing else. I'd suggest changing banks, just like Elmahri kindly suggested above.
Wild el Bahrain December 13th, 2006, 08:55 PM I hate NBB too...Its because they are big that they dont give especially with most of Bahrain getting their salaries on it..

Adel December 22nd, 2008, 12:11 PM Wtf are you playing games with me :mad2:. What I saw before displayed by RANA AAA as the Bahraini banner was a Holland banner.
Now I can see the right Banner, and it's quite nice too.
There is a problem with the Bahrain SSC forum or with my settings. Now I know why BP is upset.

AhabDoom September 15th, 2010, 02:46 PM On the subject of blah, blah, blah..
I am intrigued. How come Bahraini's and the foreign folk who live in Bahrain hardly ever post anywhere on the internet? Every forum I have been on relating to Bahrain seems real dead.
B-Patriot September 15th, 2010, 03:33 PM Maybe cuz a great deal of the professional foreign folk in Bahrain tend to be a bit older... Unlike Dubai, where u have a lot of young professionals... In Bahrain i get the impression they're mostly older and families...
Unless they're cheap labour or working blue collar type jobs...
But you're right.. the forum goes through like phases.. lol
I Know May 7th, 2011, 04:41 PM MANAMA: Businessmen have pledged to work harder to reinforce Bahrain's business-friendly image.
Recent developments are a wake-up call and businesses need to be "better than before" to revive the national economy and reinforce investor confidence, the head of a key think-tank set up by the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry has warned.
"Peace and stability is the key for business to flourish anywhere - this is time for all of us to work for the benefit of the country and its people," Bahrain News Agency quotes Abdul Hameed Al Kooheji as saying.
This is a daunting challenge not only for captains of industry but also for the grass roots traders, he points out.
The think-tank has been set up to prioritise worst-hit sectors and work with the government to revive the economy after two months of unrest.
The chamber has started meeting representatives of the worst-hit hospitality and retail sectors.
"Hotel occupancy has been hit badly during the past few months as people preferred to hold meetings in Dubai or elsewhere rather than come to Bahrain.
"We saw there is liquidity in the market, especially in the Gulf, but people have no confidence to invest," Mr Al Kooheji says.
According to reports, the tourism industry lost mmore than $500 million (BD189m) over February and March especially with the cancellation of the Bahrain Grand Prix.
