Really nice pictures. I thought Doha has never changed since I last left it last year.
I am a new member in this forum, I have actually been long looking at this forum and reading, and it only came to me today that I joined this forum. :)

I like the design. The minaret is a copy of al-Mutawakkil Mosque in Samarra, Iraq. But the facade looks a bit too artificial. It's giving off a cardboard appearance and is very "theme-y". I think they should make it more natural maybe by removing those stripes or changing the colour. It's looking like an upside down ice cream cone.

well they need to first get past Bahrain :D. There is no doubt they are beating us in the skyscraper department, but we are ahead with the tourism projects for now:) But i doubt that will be the case for long. But yes it would be nice to see the GCC states having some serious competition out side the energy industry. But Qatar seems to be catching up in all those industries:)

What the gulf countries need is cooperation not competition and this is where we are goin wrong. We can compete in some areas but we need to cooperate more. It's slowly happenin but more needs to be done to justify this whole council thing.

Am sure Doha wants to be different from Bahrain and Dubai, somethin unique for itself. We can see that happenin especially with the sports scene and the energy (gas) sector.

I think they're doing what Clinton recently suggested...They're planning on being the energy capital, and not just oil or gas capital of the world!

Hence Energy City. Soon will be in the ranks of Housten, Tokyo, Singapore, Aburdeen and other major energy centers around the world.

Welcome Dave. Enjoy your time here !!

And thanks for the Doha pics. Nice pics.
