This is quite an old structure initially built as a midway house near the old terminal building QAI, Karachi mostly used by the PIA under training crew as well as for the transit passengers. Now they are in a process of renovating it and renaming as well.

The building doesnt look as grand as I envisioned it to be... looks like just another wayside hotel. Is located pretty far out from Karachi-central too.

the hotel is not as small as it looks like in the pictures infact the major portion of the hotel is not visible in the pictures

well on the website it has alot of features and facilities and 6 resturants and also 200+ plus rooms so lets wait till its complete.

Approx 320 rooms completing in 3 phases. Hotel completion is due for April 2007 - we are aware that the project is delayed but it will be worth the wait, I assure you. Mr. mfq1123, it would be really appreciated if you can give more details about this project soon and give us an overview of what actually is on the drawing board. We're all getting pretty impatient.

Having stayed at all three over the past 12 months, I would say that the Sheraton and Marriott are at best 4 stars each. I was very disappointed with each. The same applies to Avari Towers where I stayed in December during the England cricket series. The rooms in all three hotels are very dated and each need modernising and renovating.

PC Karachi is probably the closest to a 5 star and even then not at a par with other newer 5 star locations. However, its the best Karachi has at the moment.

thats strange, i would say, sheraton is better the PC. Atleast for me. Avari is def a 4 star. But i guess, the best hotel in pak dat i have been in is either PC lahore, or Serena. I thought Serenas rooms where a wee bit small, but the service was much better then any i have seen in Pakistan....

PC Lahore should be higher. Its certainly the most ostentatious hotel in Pakistan (after Isloo Serena) and its lobby area is far better than most of the western or Dubai hotels I have visited.

I read somewhere a long time ago that the Le Meridien in Karachi was going to be built in some colonial-style building with a main building and several bungalows (I remember that because I very much like the idea of rehabilitating the beautiful colonial era buildings for modern usage)... any news on what happened to that or has that plan been scrapped for good?

No doubt PC Lahore is a world class hotel(but what PC LHR lack is parking space, staff training n few more things....), the list is based on few fact like location, facilities, occupancy, Average rate(Serena 7000+, PC LHR 5500+, PC RWP 3500+[2005 figures]), etc ...

I agree totally. Although, I also agree about the lack of parking space and the awkward entrance into the hotel from the Mall Road.

Better than 5 stars in London? lol, check out Le Meridien at Picadilly Circus, The Ritz near Green Park etc etc.

I actually had no idea. :dunno: I just booked the damn thing as I had checked out of my original hotel to go to London but then the project manager 'requested' me to stay 3 more days when I was about to leave for the airport :hammer:

The best and poshest hotel I ever stayed in was the Marriott in Seoul. I was like WOW. :lol: Highly recommended.

I was all excited about Le Meridien until I reached the last page of this thread... yea I went to this hotel about 6-7 months ago and tried the restaurant at the back... the food was good thought cant remember what it was!

Well its an airport hotel and karachi is not a favorite transit point for people (and those that would like to stay in a Grand Mercure).
