Look, Guys, I'm not trying to bash Colombia here. I'm sure its a great country, and you should be proud of it. I'm just trying to make a point that lots of skyscrapers have "dark sides" when it comes to the capital that builds them. As I mentioned earlier, it's not just Colombia where this happens. The articles I have posted show that many American (and likely Canadian) buildings are financed for these reasons. I just find it amusing that so many people can rave about these buildings while being so naive about how they are built. Would we admire, to use a somewhat extreme example, Albert Speer's buildings for their "architectural merit," without considering why they were built?

So, hope this clarifies things...

Having said that, let me add: "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink."

call me an ignorant north american but i always thought that medellin was just the name of a cartel ... imagine my surprise when i found it listed on formerly metropla.net for having an in place mass transit system ... not much of a SKYline but an interesting looking place in a damned dramatic location

Medellin has a nice skyline. COlombia is a very nice place and shouldn't be known for crime/drugs. I know too many Colombians to think that this is true.

Medellin's skyline is pretty good; and most importantly, it is probably the cleanest and most organized one among Colombia's major cities.

9/10- I like Medellin's downtown skyline, but El Poblado (a mainly residential part of the city) is amazingly modern and dense w/ all of it's buildings on the 20's ad 30's (floors). that part of Medellin will be even better in '07 when most of it's 96 projects of more than 16 floors are finished (i'm counting them).

anyway there's a vertical mall being built, it's design is more like a copy of espirito santo centre in Miami
