SHOPPING CENTRE NEWS: AL-WATYAH COMMERCIAL CENTER

The latest development to be announced for Kuwait is the Al-Watyah Commercial Center. This is considered the largest mixed use commercial project that will be developed within the heart of Kuwait city.

The 20,000 sqm plot will hold a podium consisting of 4 levels of parking for 1,100 cars and a 3 level modernly designed themed shopping center with approximately 21,200 sqm of net lease able area above the parking. The shopping center will target mid to high end customers and the retail mix will include entertainment components such as a food court, indoor kids entertainment center, cafés, and dine inn restaurants. The shopping center will consist of shops that vary in size from individual shops to multi story anchors.

Above the shopping center, will rise two 40-storey office towers in addition to a 30-storey five star hotel housing 256 rooms and 96 suites.

The expected opening date of the project is mid 2009.

The developer, Kuwait Finance House (KFH), one of the largest property developers in Kuwait, wants the Al Watyah project to become a landmark of modern development, one that will put Kuwait on the map of the world’s most significant financial centers.

The project team consists of: Al Nakheel United Real Estate Company (NUREC), a subsidiary of KFH, and the project managers of this project, the Canadian Based Architectural firm WZMH, in cooperation with the local consulting firm SSH (Salem AlMarzook & Sabah Abi Hanna) as the project architects and technical consultants

any update on Al-Watiyah Complex

Al-Watya Commercial and Hotel Complex is to be located in the heart of Kuwait City’s Commercial District. This project shall contribute a high rise facility of two 40-storey office towers and a 30-storey prestigious hotel, planted above a commercial shopping centre, offering refreshment to the thriving commercial beat of Downtown Kuwait City.

Contributing to the on-going car parking issue, this project shall provide three full levels of basement parking. WZMH of Toronto, Canada, have capitalized on SSH’s expertise of the local market and knowledge of local clientele by offering a highly successful, yet innovative, solution to this highly regarded site. The language of the towers draws the attention of the on-looker from land and from sea.

I really don't know. We should ask someone who works for KFH. I think that this will be constructed in the place of Souq Al Watya.
