Nice pix! Especially the close-up of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. However, I must beg a question: why aren't many cars on the street?

Godd pictures, some show LA's high density. I like with the Biltmore Hotel looking up to the Gas Company Tower.

He was in LA during the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend. Traffic is always light around the city during this holiday weekend. IMO one of the best times to visit as weather is usually very nice, and its about the only time its farily easy to get around LA with little traffic. About the only bad traffic is on the freeways heading east towards Las Vegas, and San Bernardino. But thats out in the suburbs.

NYC seem to do something similar Memorial Day weekend. Traffic is so light, and the city seems rather strange because it is so empty compared to its regular hustle & bustle.

Sorry, didn't mention. These were taken Thanksgiving Sunday morning and Grand was closed off most of the way because they were filming a Toyota commercial. Also...I am guessing...most of the pictures were taken around the Financial/Governmental district. I was disappointed I couldn't make it down to the older part of downtown....where all the new conversions are going in. Looking down 7th though was quiet impressive with the older stock. I know that I read a freeby paper down there and they were predicting that the population downtown would double along with the prices by 2010. So I think L.A. is growing an urban heart.

In 2000 I went downtown during a weekday and it was a mess with traffic and people.

The product of a centrifugal, multi-nodal, dispersed city that has never really given priority to its city center... until very recently. All of the cars that you are looking for are probably stuck on the freeway another product of a city that did most of its growing during the 20th century and during the Federal Freeway Initiative when the gov't was big on creating an Interstate Highway system making rail seemingly obsolete for passenger service. Also after the car was accessible to the masses. If not mistaken, this has been explained a millionth time. :bash:

Thank you, Klamedia, for our effort. But I go along with Chicago3rd and ChrisLA. Their explanations made sense to me.

That's odd. Exactly a year ago they did the same thing, filming a car commercial on Grand.
You left the historic part out though, Fashion District, Jewerly District, Santee Alley, Flower District. Did you make a visit to that area?

They film a car commercial on Grand pretty much every day of the year. Disney Hall, Moca, The Museum Tower and second street are in every commercial if you look hard enough

Yeah car commercials love Downtown L.A. If you watch some of the car commercials closely, you can actually immediately see the streets. Some of the car commercials i've seen over the years are always in Downtown L.A.

Sorry about that. I had it there then took it out, before I cut and pasted the information onto this page (stupid me didn't cut the text though), because the day before I took these pictures and the day I took these pictures it was so the clear and it was quiet exciting to see them. So it was a big deal. But with a couple pictures I will put up tonight it would have been redunant.
