Newcastle Guy December 8th, 2005, 11:06 PM DEE, if you get your hands on more info post this in the world forum section
eddyk December 8th, 2005, 11:06 PM First he's heard ^^
If a worlds tallest was ever built in the UK I don't think It would happen in London...maybe as part of the regeneration of Wembley, but nowhere near the centre.
Newcastle Guy December 8th, 2005, 11:09 PM I cant see this happening sadly, but is this from a reliable source?
london-b December 8th, 2005, 11:10 PM Damn, if it's true I don't know what to think of it.
Skopie December 8th, 2005, 11:10 PM Surely it refers to a British practice designing it for another country?
Would anybody want a 800m building in London? I think it would look terrible.
Newcastle Guy December 8th, 2005, 11:14 PM Here you go: http://www.ajplus.co.uk/
Some one care to register?;)
The Mad Hatter!! December 8th, 2005, 11:16 PM sorry but i think anyone should build anything that tall, since dubai has made the wtb a worthless title it no longer means anything in my opinion although i would love to see london get a mix of 4 or 5 300m and 2 0r 3 400 m towers
london-b December 8th, 2005, 11:17 PM sorry but i think anyone should build anything that tall, since dubai has made the wtb a worthless title it no longer means anything in my opinion although i would love to see london get a mix of 4 or 5 300m and 2 0r 3 400 m towers
I agree, London should aim for quite tall and quality.
tuten December 8th, 2005, 11:17 PM I would have to see it to believe it!!!
Newcastle Guy December 8th, 2005, 11:18 PM Maybe the rcord in the UK?
caw123 December 8th, 2005, 11:21 PM London office, British pratice. Nowhere does it say it will actually be built in London. All it means is a London architect is probably designing something for Dubai.
London will never, ever have the WTB. Doesn't need it either.
Jonny 5 December 8th, 2005, 11:24 PM Doesn't say anywhere that it will be the "World's Tallest Building".
London December 8th, 2005, 11:34 PM yeah.... it could just mean the 1000ft barrier or summin
Dan1987 December 8th, 2005, 11:34 PM I don't even want the world's tallest building to be in London, its too gimmicky and will look severely out of place anywhere its put!
Jonny 5 December 8th, 2005, 11:37 PM yeah.... it could just mean the 1000ft barrier or summin
It doesn't even say it's in London. It could be anywhere.
It could be a proposal for Liverpool, Sydney or Beijing for all those 3 lines tell us.
eXSBass December 9th, 2005, 12:05 AM No no oh god no! 300-350m is just about right for London to be honest. We don't want a 1000m soaring mofo in our skyline now do we? I say no! Please no!
EH, CAA object to this :tongue2:
Eastender December 9th, 2005, 12:29 AM don't worry, this has nothing to do with london. a british architect is designing a 1,001m tower for kuwait.
mulattokid December 9th, 2005, 01:22 AM Although, from a practical point of view, considering the predicted rise in population and how small our island is, I would not be against ultra highs in a "new London" say along the Thames corridor. I agree, I see no place for monsters in Central London.
hellolazyness December 9th, 2005, 01:45 AM ARRR tell us tell us tell us! :clown:
hellolazyness December 9th, 2005, 01:48 AM Oh just read it was for Kuwait - damn. :(
Fragmentor December 9th, 2005, 08:22 AM well, thats the end of that :D
potto December 9th, 2005, 09:28 AM Although, from a practical point of view, considering the predicted rise in population and how small our island is, I would not be against ultra highs in a "new London" say along the Thames corridor. I agree, I see no place for monsters in Central London.
I agree, super talls are pretty inevitable in London, it is just where we think about locating them.
magicrealist December 9th, 2005, 01:59 PM It's in Today's Indy:

Cat man do December 9th, 2005, 02:30 PM So now Kuwait is on the bandwagon, trying to do a 'Dubai'
jef December 9th, 2005, 02:36 PM 1001 meters high.Whats the point? Ridiculous.
jorgen December 9th, 2005, 02:59 PM It's insane.
Imagine 50-100 years after completion, when the madly high tower has an old-fashioned look and they decide to demolish it. What a job... pick down piece for piece. No TNT on that house :)
