It's not that tall or large, but I think you'd have a hard time finding a better skyline for a city this small. For that it deserves at least an 8.

Halifax has an incredible skyline for being such a puny village
Those blue glass towers on the water are neat!
GeorgeCostanza2 December 7th, 2003, 11:40 PM ok keeping in mind that you probably couldnt find a city with this skyline for its population

Buster December 15th, 2003, 12:35 AM Halifax is a beautiful town but its skyline leaves much to be desired.
5/10
GeorgeCostanza2 December 15th, 2003, 03:12 AM Its 300,000 people !
it may not be huge or tall, but the buildings are placed almost perfectly, and its very dense
if you could imagine all those buildings much taller, it would kick a lot of other skylines ass'
Think about its size

finko August 30th, 2004, 01:59 AM like the skyline overall, especially with the harbor in front. just on the side, i read somewhere a description of those two twin glass buildings which described them as "milk cartons" pretty accurate i think
skyscraper_1 August 30th, 2004, 06:38 AM In my unbiased opinion: I would give it a 10/10.
Jim Su September 15th, 2004, 05:26 AM Just visited Halifax. Great city! Here is a panoramic I took just yesterday (Sept 13, 2004)

Dude September 24th, 2004, 09:52 PM You should the beaches of the Harbour and the Arm. Instead of lines of dead seaweed there are piles of garbage. It's gross if you tip while sailing.
Rhino January 5th, 2005, 06:05 PM For its size its perfect. All these poeple says " size please", and other non intellegent comments , Thing of location and pop. It is a wonderfull city, nice enough to be in BC even. :) just kidden .
Vanman January 12th, 2005, 05:23 PM For a city as old as Halifax i'd expect it to have a lot larger of a built up downtown than that, it looks like a half-ass suburban downtown with a few office parks. Is it that people in Halifax don't want development in their downtown or is it that the economy is stagnant there

MattSal April 7th, 2005, 04:18 AM A relatively good skyline with some nice buildings. I give it a 6/10.
vanboyH April 7th, 2005, 04:37 AM I gave Halifax a 9/10 for such an incredible skyline for a small city.
For a city of 370 000, I would've given it a rating of 7 or 7.5, but I'm giving a 9 for the de-amalgated city of Halifax, which has a population 115 000. Does Dartmouth have a skyline? There's a few low-rise buildings, I'm sure, but I couldn't find any pics on Dartmouth.
It's like Quebec having a great skyline for a city of 130 000 before amalgating to become a city of 510 000.
Skyline wise (for Halifax), it needs a bit more height for it to be anything over outstanding, but add it with superb background, and it's good enough for me.
mikep April 7th, 2005, 05:39 PM those glass buildings look very nice on the lake, would be better with more height 7/10
You are to blame April 7th, 2005, 06:25 PM ^ it's the atlantic ocean not a lake

Nouvellecosse June 9th, 2005, 09:29 AM Thank you to JARdan and GeorgeCostanza2 for finally providing some decent pics. It's true that Halifax has an exceptional skyline for its size. It's comparable only to Wellington New Zealand for a city in its pop. bracket.

I think many people are surprised at how dense the city actually is. It has many traditional NA East Coast features like town/rowhouses and walkable neighbourhoods. Although it isn't hard to understand why people don't realise that with that huge 7 story parking garage sitting right by the waterfront :bash: Of course it's only there because we don't have any room for surface parking, but surface parking can't be seen in the skyline lol.
Tuscani01 January 30th, 2006, 04:35 AM I have always loved Halifax. I remember the first time I saw a picture of the skyline. I had never even thought Halifax would have a skyline. I heard so much about it in school, especially in History during times of war and the Halifax explosion and always pictured it to be a small town with houses and a few shops. When i saw the picture of a City with an actual skyline i was pretty surprised.
Those buildings right on the ocean are amazing. Its like they are just floating. I came so dam close to visiting the city a few years ago, but my parents picked PEI instead of Nova Scotia:(

isaidso August 5th, 2008, 06:21 AM St. John's is old too, but Halifax has always been a more established and important city. The building stock reflects that.
Nouvellecosse August 5th, 2008, 02:52 PM ^ You still in town? When can we be expecting a photothread?
isaidso August 6th, 2008, 03:26 AM I'm back in the Big Smoke, but may be returning to Halifax after the Olympics. I have to say that Halifax is certainly developing its own style. I'm not quite sure how to describe it. Halifax has managed to marry the beauty of a rugged Canadian landscape with modern urbanity better than most other places. It's not big city, but it's certainly sophisticated. It's human scaled-old money-seaport style? What ever it is, Halifax is looking very good these days. No photothread yet, but I'm working on it.

MTLskyline October 2nd, 2011, 07:45 PM I'll give this an 8. Pretty impressive skyline for a city of 400,000 people. Pretty dense. The only thing it could use is a little more height, although I have read that there are some taller projects on the way.
