colemonkee December 10th, 2005, 10:14 AM I like it! I can't tell what's going on in the middle (I hope it's glass), but it's highly original, and works. It almost evokes a person bracing himself against the desert wind as his robe billows behind him. I wonder what the inspiration for the architect was...
malec December 10th, 2005, 11:16 AM You should create a Kuwait boom thread so we see everything going on
Dr. Dubai December 10th, 2005, 11:50 AM Gorgeous design. After UAE, Qatar and Bahrein, Kuwait is getting his supertalls too:D

When the city committee submitted the plan banck in Jan 2005, it was approved at 360 meters which was also the maximum height limit in Kuwait city.
Unless they increased the height limit later and exceeded the height of the tower its self.

ZZ-II June 18th, 2007, 05:04 PM not much progress since the last update as i can see
Faisal July 18th, 2007, 02:07 PM Al Hamra Fidrous Tower is an integrated, mix use development with a shopping center and office tower situated in the heart of Kuwait City. At 410 m (1350 ft.) high and 70 floors, it is the tallest building in Kuwait, as well as one of the tallest in the region. Both day and night, the tower is a signature and spectacular landmark on the skyline, with its elegant curvilinear design and all-glass exterior.
In the evening, lighting is one of the most significant tools to generate a landmark seen at night. The lighting design transforms the visual appearance of the building from day to night.
Floodlights are positioned on the Podium Roof and intermittent setbacks on the tower to illuminate the curvilinear vertical concrete bands. Variation in brightness and gradation of light, enhance the architectural shape and dynamic twisting configuration of the Tower.
The striking 21m (70 ft.) high lobby has a unique series of vaulted, architectural screens creating a ceiling, that is illuminated via uplights in the floor. Discrete adjustable downlights are clamp-mounted and concealed above the structure
of the screen providing supplemental illumination. Soft uplighting ‘above’ the screen reveals the depth of space, and a presence of the volume beyond the ceiling screen.
Tall linear recesses above each elevator lift are accentuated with lighting concealed in slots, above each one. The illumination is more intense at the bottom, with a gradation of light traveling up the wall toward the ceiling. This feature complements the ceiling screen and provides a dramatic focal point when entering the lobby – enhancing its dramatic height.
Podium and Car Park facades are illuminated to complement the Tower creating a unique and unified complex of buildings. Podium facades showcase activity and glow from within, creating a pixel type façade with warm and cool color lighting. Street level illumination from the retail shops and window displays - provide a lively, pedestrian circulation zone.
Narrow beam spotlights located at the base of façade screen, above the pedestrian area illuminate the architectural ‘folds’ in the surface of the Car Park facade, creating a uniquely textured screen - minimizing views into the parking area. The lighting for the exterior utilizes metal halide sources with a warm color temperature. This light source renders the material well and has a long life, reducing maintenance requirements. The luminaires have excellent glare control and precise optics - allowing controlled aiming and energy savings.

Size: 106 000 m² (1 141 000 sq. ft.)

Height of the tower: 412 m.
AltinD September 24th, 2007, 01:07 AM Two things:
Height: 412 meters
Construction Speed: 8 floors in 6 months :weird:
giovani kun September 24th, 2007, 06:26 AM I thinck they are new into supertalls..the speed is just too slow at this speed in 10 years they will finish
xXFallenXx September 25th, 2007, 10:05 PM i don't think so either....
Its going to take a minimum of 15 years.
CrazY September 26th, 2007, 11:37 AM lol,, yeah it is slow,, but the company didn't start the project with the tower, they wanted to finish the mall and carpark first...
this is only the beginning of the tower, which is the most important part and they are taking their time with it :P construction will be much faster in the future, just like arraya tower.

Buyckske Ruben October 28th, 2007, 11:41 AM Already it is a very difficult construction to pour in concrete (the difficult shape of the building) the progress is really fast. Its not a ordinary boxy building its mutch more then that!
By the way very good work of the forummers that taking pictures of the site!
LeMoN-SK October 28th, 2007, 12:33 PM The core is really BIG:eek:

To give an idea about the height of Al Hamra tower by comparing it with some of world's tallest buildings..
El Quijotillo November 10th, 2007, 05:30 PM Nice diagram! Only we need more updates, and every week... :)
ZZ-II November 10th, 2007, 05:43 PM the construction is not so fast, i think 2 weeks are enough :)
Thamerium November 10th, 2007, 08:58 PM Yes, two weeks is practical period of time to show a noticeable progress in the construction site... And tomorrow I think I am gonna try to get some photos for the tower...;)
ElVoltageDR November 11th, 2007, 05:20 PM This is an awesome tower.
