TEHRAN (CHN) -- A Turkish company is determined to invest U.S. $350 million to build a residential-trade complex in Tehran which will consist of a hotel and several business offices.

In May/April 2005, a Turkish hotel construction company launched some negotiations with the Iranian Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization (ICHTO) to invest in the tourism sector of the country.

In addition to this project, and with the cooperation of ICHTO, the company is intending to build 20 three-star chain hotels in different cities of Iran.

According to Gholam-Hossein Khosro Abadi, director general of the equipment office of non-governmental associations of ICHTO, this residential-trade complex will cover a land area as large as approximately 350,000 square meters. The Turkish company has started negotiations with Tehran’s municipality to find a proper land for this complex.

Part of the expenses of this project will be achieved by the foreign finance department, and the rest will be obtained by selling the apartments and trade units in advance.

Well i guess this company could be Enka or Rixos Group. Anyway i think it's a good news whoever the company is.

I've said before i know many other Turkish companies who want to invest in Iran. But that Turkcell and TAV disasters feared them. Still i expect some investments more. First one is Koc Holding. I expect RamStore (retail hipermarket chain) to open a hipermarket in Tehran and Arcelik or Beko to open a home electronic plant.

I think Iran is full of opportunities for the one who can get the risk !

because of the sanctions, iran is a country ripe for investment. there is a 70 million consumer market. i read an article a while ago that said american companies and european companies want the sanctions to go away so that they can do business in iran!

the sanctions are keeping iran from reaching its true potential, iran could have an economy larger than 1 trillion dollars! but i guess this is what the USA wants, to keep iran economically poor.

^^ But the sanctions are only on the American companies, not European.

yes but because there are sanctions, the economic sitaution isnt good.

and you have to remember that a lot of european companies have ties with american companies and european governments have ties with the american government.

europe also wants a poor iran, but i dont see how keeping iran poor is going to make the mullahs go away. sanctions have never worked and they wont work against iran either, it doesnt make sense.

The biggest reason why Erupean companies arent investing in Iran is probably because they feel unsafe about the political situation.

well ofcourse, the political situation is why there are sanctions and military threats in the first place.

i really hope the mullahs will go soon.

This is true and same reason why Turkish companies are hesitating to invest in Iran.

Those compaines, all of them, are multi-shareholder companies. Managers are responsible to their shareholders. Look what happened to TAV, they've lost 150 millon $ and Turkcell have lost more than 3 billion $ investment chance. It's really hard to invest where a group of people are holding all the control of the economy. What if they turn against you and kick you out of the country after you've spent a billion $

Turkish Ambassador to Tehran Bozkurt Aran said earlier Iran can forget about investment by the Turkish company TAV in the Imam Khomeini International Airport (IKIA) development project after paying some $15 million in compensation.
The diplomat said that there are many Turkish companies willing to invest in Iran, stressing that obstacles created in the way of Tepe-Akfen-Vie (TAV)–s participation in the IKIA project would make them think twice.
The Turkish ambassador further advised Iran not to kill the growing enthusiasm shown by Turkish companies in recent years for investment in Iran.
He said several Turkish firms are willing to invest in textile, ceramics, chinaware, beverage, mineral and auto spare parts manufacturing industries in Iran.

Ucgen's Executive Board Chairman Haluk Kaya signed today an agreement with executives of Iranian Tourism Development Company for the construction of six hotels, a project worth 100 million USD.
