KEO International Consultants has been appointed to manage the design and construction phases of the new $200m QNB Headquarter Tower designed by Arata Isozaki of Japan.
The Future Headquarter for Qatar National Bank which will be located facing Doha
Bay in the center of the Corniche area. The building is designed to be a prominent
Landmark that will be unique, monumental celebrating architecture as Artwork.
The Building was developed as a modern sculpture that dynamically and dramatically
changes as the User approaches it. The main concept of the design is derived from
a theme that Arata Isozaki has been developing throughout his long career: that of
a “City in the air”.
The building follows a very unique structural concept and total built area of around
72,000 m2. In addition to offices, there would be a state of the art conference facility multipurpose hall of 300 seating capacity. The total height for the building is 91.5m with
three underground basements able to accommodate for around 800 cars.
The project construction budget has been reported to be around $200 million and with plans to be in construction in 2005. KEO currently is managing other major architectural works by Arata Isozaki at Education City in Qatar including the largest Conference Center in the Middle East. Donna Sultan, KEO’s Chief Executive Officer stated “each project by Arata Isozaki pushes the limits of boldness in design and provides a unique challenge to the teams mandated to delivering them. The future QNB tower is an example of another masterpiece that will challenge us, as the PM, to bring together highest level of management skill together with a consciousness for the aesthetic goals of the project.
We are very pleased that we will be working with Arata Isozaki, all of the design team professionals on the project and the Qatar National Bank
towards the success of this extraordinary project.”

Will it be close to the similarly designed library? I can imagine it would look great with a couple of those buildings in an area with a lot of grass and green. Or a modern place. The important thing is though, that the place is stylisticly pure, so that the buildings stand out.

They cancelled it. For sure. Instead QNB repainted their current building and put up stupied looking blue glass in for the windows.
