JEDDAH – On Saturday a giant photograph of King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, will be pulled through the sky above the city by Saudi Aviation Club (SAC) aircraft as part of the “Jeddah from the Sky” event.
The photo is 30 meters long and nine meters high, said Colonel Mubarak Al-Suwailem, representative of the Saudi Aviation Club (SAC) at Makkah Region’s Emir’s Office.
The show is a gift from the city residents to King Abdullah on the occasion of his return to the country in good health, and the advent of the blessed month of Ramadan, he said.
Al-Suwailem said Jeddah has already witnessed a Saudi flag towed by an airplane flown by Captain Abdullah Al-Shareef also at the event.
The flag was 25 meters long and nine meters high. The flag was made in the United States and the training for the show took two months, he said.
The flag was flown for 30 minutes, passing over the Corniche above Annawras Square, then Al-Madina Road and Al-Hamra Corniche Fountain, before the plane landed at its take-off point.
The SAC is also preparing for a special show for Saudi National Day on Shawwal 27. __
