I think that the tall blocks on this project are crap.... The masterplan had low-rise towers near the waterfront, the taller towers behind that. It is sad that of all developers Emaar is the one ignoring this....

Anyway.... The towers look overpriced in my opionion. Esp. if you take the concrete-rot problems into account that plague EVERY dubai development.....

Too expensive if you ask me and think that the only winning move is not to invest into this project....

minime, that microcracking/rapid concrete deterioration you spoke about, is this solely down to the climate of Dubai... or are there other factors contributing to this problem?

Which brings to mind, I've heard that the foundations of Burj Dubai itself is riddled with cracks... I mean is there any grounds for concern in the long term with a building on this scale? I'm guessing maybe not, because the construction is still full steam ahead up there right? Couldn't see anybody taking those kind of risks... surely not anyway...

Apart from Burj Dubai Mall, Marina Mall is my favourite. I think both these malls have the best locations in Dubai by a mile! And as you mentioned, they are both very accessible by foot (hence avoids using the car and adding to an already quite problematic system, which I feel is very important) and are great additions to their surroundings! So true! And they look great also!

i don't know if this has has been mentioned before on this thread, but i just found out that the 5 star hotel in the mall will be an Emirates Hotel & Resort, a new luxury hotel chain owned by Emirates Group, parent of Emirates Airline.

Most importend is a great Mall within the Dubai Marina :cheers:

... and not only that, it puts some buildings in the shade. Can you imagine an afternoon at the Atlantic. The sun must set behind this monster at around 2p.m.

Although big, I think the hotel tower has a clever design. When viewed from one angle it has a curved section that angles out in a concave fashion from the wall-like portion, making it appear to have a much smaller footprint.

I get the feeling sitting by the pool at some of these towers in the marina one´s going to feel like they are in a permanent eclipse, the sun just wont be there. Interesting if anyone has taken these factors into consideration.

I get the feeling sitting by the pool at some of these towers in the marina one´s going to feel like they are in a permanent eclipse, the sun just wont be there. Interesting if anyone has taken these factors into consideration.

Thats Huge, but i'm sure we only all think that because of it's width as most towers generally go skyward so the never seam like that.

The rate of progress here is akin to the speed that the Mall of the Emirates was built - ie FAST. Although the apartments/ hotel won't be finished by June 2008, the mall itself just might be. Let's hope so!

Wont be quite so nice when bay central knocks out half the view.

I know the foot of the mall arch will eventually sit in the water,ie sand infil removed, but dose the same go for gourmet tower

OMG Its HUGE !

It’s the giant of the Marina.

You almost want to push flat screen monitor further away.

(It’s so huge and so much on your face).

Marina mall will be ready before my apartment…..

What"s the room count, including the serviced apartments--at least 500? This will be one of the most impressive hotel complexes in the country--in a league with Atlantis, Burj Al Arab, the Burj Views, etc. While not being a resort it will probably be tops in terms of shopping and business facilities (once the business tower is completed).

The Marina Plaza (office tower) also rising , core above the street level.
