Looks like the Marina Mall will be the location for one of the water taxi stations. Anyone got any pictures to prove it?

The mall is a fine building for it's intended use but the hotel building is just an uninspiring monstrosity. It just dominates far too much of the skyline which is not good for something so ugly.

Hows this mall doing in terms of footfall? Os it a failure in terms of retail...

Not sure how profitable the mall is in terms of the lessees.
But I really like the mall. It has all the shops you need, it has nice surroundings and the "luxury finish" (see the restrooms).
It is certainly a very beautiful mall. It is not crowded but it is not empty either.

With the outdoor area coming up soon, it will be awesome.

^^ its such an empty metropolis...do they have laws in dubai specifying that people who purchase property must stay in them for a certain period of time?

^^ its such an empty metropolis...do they have laws in dubai specifying that people who purchase property must stay in them for a certain period of time? No.
The rules are relaxed here, not like in my European home country; You cannot leave it empty, you cannot let people stay for free etc. So many rules... :ohno:

Dubai Marina Mall has unveiled a spectacular water tree, a first of its kind in the region.

At 7.5 metres (24 ft) high, the water tree at Dubai Marina Mall will continue through the winter months.

Essentially an intricate network of nozzles, jets and pipes, the water feature is set around a pool and creates the illusion of a structured tree, complemented by dancing lights.

Nasser Rafi, chief executive officer, Emaar Malls Group, said: “The water tree, envisaged as a winter attraction at the mall, builds on the fascination which Dubai residents and visitors have for innovative water features.

“It further adds to the appeal of the mall, which has already been established as a popular shopping and entertainment destination within Dubai Marina and the surrounding areas. The mall has over 120 retail outlets, along with a choice of popular restaurants, and the newly opened premium boutique six-screen Reel Cinemas cineplex, which greatly adds to the entertainment choice of visitors.”

Designed and executed by water engineering experts and designers from France, the water tree has an intricate network of bead like water jets. They spray the 30,000 litres of water in an 8mx8m pool, creating a stunning visual experience, as the water shimmers through dazzling light rays.

Anybody know the status of the offices in Marina Plaza, meaning, are they sold just to investors or are there going to be actual companies using their own offices? Also, what is the status of companies operating there? Is it a free zone or can any company set up there?

couldn't tell! there were no signs of companies anywhere that i can see. i had to verify from the reception at the lobby if select has moved in. needed to do that so that dubai courts can deliver some legal documents :) to select at their new address.

The Public Transport Agency at Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has added two water taxi stations at the Rixos The Palm Dubai hotel, and at Dubai Marina Mall.

There are now 25 water taxi stations.

The RTA's next step is to link the water taxi stations with metro lines.
