It is considered the second most important gallery, after the national gallery.

I think MetroGardian made a good job, because this is a special building.

Is it for fine arts?

Metroguardian thanks for this excellent thread !

@ Alexandros 1984 : Allow me to say that you are being EXTREMELY rude ! I dont know how things are in Sweden or Rhodes BUT this building definitely deserves a thread. OBVIOUSLY you have not visited the National Gallery in Athens as For one the LArissa one looks vast in comparison ! (I was lucky enough to visit the IAKOVIDIS exhibition this Xmas. Amazing exhibition, not to be missed - but the building IS inadequate). (Before I forget : You obviously have not visited GENIKO KRATIKO NIKAIAS EITHER ("old greek hospital") (alongside the general hospitals / maternity clinics ALEXANDRA / ELENAS VENIZELOU (where you would see so many gypsies being treated that you would think these hospitals almost exclusively cater for them - contrary to the stories YOU were propagating !). But that's another story altogether ....
