this looks small compared to kyievs.
as you can see it's just $12bln one of cores of $100bln planned business district. most of IBC will be completed by the end of 2007.

The Russia Tower though, honestly I doubt will get built.
I still remember in 2003 when sOmeOne was all excited about it, and I think that even in 2 years from now there still won't be anything new.
Mostly because they know they lost the WTB race to Dubai, unless if they drastically change the design and increase the height with at least another 200m. Which I doubt will happen.
But the place is high quality, especially Parcel 12, it is, IMO, the best of them all, even better than the Federation building. It is elegant, highly stylized, and just look at it, it's beautiful! And on top of that it's tall!

i'm really impressed with the height of these buildings, but IMO, some of them are just so cheap looking and ugly ;)

I really don't want but i will notice about your nationalityl. You are Pole. So it is not surprise what you think. But i really don't care.
CF by most of people considering as one of most beautiful tower in Europe, same goes to Parcel 12. All towers, except of City Hall, designed by famous architectural studios. Parcel 12 by SHCA. CC by nbbj. CF by Nps Tchoban Voss. Russia Tower by SOM. 17-18IBC will be possibly designed by SOM or Norman Foster etc.

Well il share my opinions about the towers from the renderings...

:master: absolutely outstanding
Complex Federation
Parcel 12

:okay: excellent
Russia Tower (but not good enough for its size ;))
City of Capitals
Northern Tower
Naberezhnaya Tower ( will depend a lot on what glass is used, so could turn out bad)

:sleepy: not so great
Moscow City Transport Terminal. ( dont think the facade is really tasteful)
City Hall and City Duma. ( okay shape but overall not really pleasing)
Tower 2000 ( not so great but its decent and doesnt stand out, its just there )

phil, please read carefully comments to plots;)
oh, that makes more sense than cargo
Still, doesn't look very good to me, even if it's for transportation use, the office part could be better.
However the rest of the City is amazing, each individual tower is a masterpiece (unlike that 'tallest residential tower in europe' London claimed it has :P).
Except the Duma, I don't like that tower

hey I noticed the new tower on Parcel 14 in the international forums
:applause:
It's magnificient! I still hold Parcel 12 as my favorite of all, however the IBC is just keeping on adding great new towers.
BTW, should I sticky this thread instead of the Federation tower? Since this is an entire overview of the whole IBC. What do other mods think?

coth
January 28th, 2006, 08:08 PM
i think indeed CF should be stick. this thread is a district project thread, while CF is a thread about next tallest building in Eastern Europe (and all Europe as well). CF is mor important.

Has there been any problem with that company? Because apparently that company has completely messed up the Sofia Airport (delays and went over budget). I wonder if they're the same elsewhere.
Otherwise the area is shaping up really well

It all looks surreal! In a great way. :colgate:
I love the metro station, it's very modern, yet it looks rich.

One thing I don't like is the gold they keep using everywhere. I think it makes it look cheaper and tackier.

And what happened to the Russia tower? Is it replaced by that blue tall tower? I gotta say, I like the other one. This one seems a little bulky, but it does look very futuristic.

Anyway, amazing project, looking forward to seeing more! :colgate:

3tmk

What the heck did they do!
They completely ruined the Center with this replacement. It's as if the top of the Tower of Russia blew up, and they left it in ruins.
A big No from me, they should change this as fast as possible. I like creativity but this is just going too far, especially when it's supposed to be the IBC's tallest and a new landmark, they need something a little more conservative than this, which will never be appreciated.

Tower of two halves: artist's impression of City Palace, designed by RMJM

The architects who designed the expensive Scottish parliament building will build a lavish skyscraper in central Moscow, a city so awash with petrodollars that it should not balk at the cost.

A group of Edinburgh architects yesterday announced that the mayor of Moscow, Yuri Luzhkov, had approved their design, right, for the City Palace, a 46-storey tower shaped like a drill bit or, as the designer more flatteringly has it, "two ribbons wrapping around each other". Based in the capital's new financial district, it will stand metres away from another British-designed skyscraper, the Moscow City Tower, created by Lord Norman Foster and intended to be the tallest building in Europe.

Mr Luzhkov is encouraging extensive reconstruction across Moscow. Advocates say he is creating the richest looking city in Europe, while critics dismiss his projects as vulgar and ostentatious.

The architects, RMJM, have described the tower as "sexy" and "sensual". The firm's director and concept designer for the tower, Tony Kettle, said a register office in the base of the tower was inspiration for its design. "We wanted it to look like the marriage of two halves, with a feeling of celebration," he said. "It is a very rich and expressive building." A ballroom will rest on top of the £120m spiral, providing views of Moscow.

City Palace will be partly financed by Alexander Chigirinsky, a property tycoon, whose brother Shalva is backing the Moscow City Tower, a 118-storey building expected to cost £830m. "Ours is not going to be the tallest, but the most beautiful," Mr Kettle said.

Mr Kettle's firm designed the Scottish parliament building, which was completed in 2004 for £431m, 10 times its estimated cost. While the Chigirinsky brothers are known for their deep pockets, Mr Kettle said this project would provide value for its investors.

I love the metro station, it's very modern, yet it looks rich.

One thing I don't like is the gold they keep using everywhere. I think it makes it look cheaper and tackier.
The gold? Where? I don't see any gold there...

Anyway, They are starting to build new ones now outside Moscow like in St. Petersburg or Leningrad (whatever you call the city now). I am hoping they will start planning on building one in Siberian province like the city of Vladivostok so that they can open a new trading area to East Asia.

True skyscrapers are in the pipe for St.Petersburg, as well as a number of other European Russian cities.

Vladivostok will probably only hit a true phase of development in 5 years time, when the APEC summit is scheduled there. Khabarovsk along with it. But things will be built up there before then as well.

Only skyscrapers so far in Siberia are the ones proposed for the Central/Western Siberian cities like Novosibirsk, Omsk, and even the new proposal for a skyscraper in Khanty-Mansijsk out of all places.

Especially the night pics are stunning, thank you!

And there's a digital clock illumination now on top of Federation Tower Zapad. Nice idea IMO, and less complex and debatable than a huge vintage clock like the one planned for Abraj-Al Bait in Mecca. I wonder if this clock here will be moved up to Vostok, after the finishing of the to-be taller brother in 2009. If not, it'll be difficult to read the time at night, when all the u/c supertalls have topped out...

Firstly, I apologize for kicking off such a nasty OT. Secondly, hum...
I think if you remove ads and ortodox churchs you can't say if a city is Russian or Western European....If so, Soviet times granted for the least peculiarity of Moscow with respect to western Europe. In fact, they: 1 - razed the churches (see the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour), something really... ehm... despicable. And 2 - made sure billboards were non-existent (ok, except for huge, but less widespread, propaganda ones). And the quiz about commieblocks was way too easy, the Muscovite ones are the tallest and those with the most greenery around them. If you are really an expert you can tell the type of building is also from Russia-USSR, usually these are standard projects.
Ok, enough with this BS. Back to topic :D

Then you say #2 and #3 are Moscow? if yes, you have mistaked, the #3 is Spain. No, the 2nd is also the one with the most greenery around it. But anyway, I was speaking in general.
New 330m supertall for MoscowNice. And the one beside it must be at least 200 mt.

^^This is absolutely beautiful! This could be my absolute favorite cluster of high-rise buildings. I like how individual buildings complement each other.

The clock/temperature thing really needs to go. It is a distraction and detracts from the architecture. The only good thing about the clock is that now 1/3 of Moscow can throw away their wrist watches.

Do you really need a clock to draw your attention to these incredible buildings? Would you buy the apartment that has to look at that clock non-stop?

it's very simple CBD.nothing special

Trust me, they are not made of glass. Only parts of the cladding are. But I get what you meant...

And it is very simple CBD? You probably didn't see much pictures of how the center will look in the future.

This picture is already a bit old, there may be some changes but to give you some idea:

Last point programs were the projects of the company of [Miraks]- groups, represented, let us say so, in an uncommon manner - two different projects of different architects, on the different sides of the Moscow River they were shown together under the general name “[Miraks]- garden” on the stand, and with the intricate general name - in the agenda. Thus, together to council they were presented: the project of the multifunctional center of architect [Erin] in the form the glass volume of flattened egg-shaped form and the design of the reconstruction of embankment and inhabited bridge Of [a]. [Asadov]'s workshop. The first - glass oval, is intended to place above the reconstructed electro-undercossack village, which feeds now the part of City, and it can attend entire [MMDTS]. Substation is located on the same shore, as by City, but on the other side of the third ring. Around it is intended to bring into order “the garden of medicinal plants”. Mikhail [Posokhin] defined project as “not bad”. But Yuri Platonov coming-forward following it was very confused by the fact that “the egg” is one additional model “of [dogonyaniya]”, as it was expressed, Foster and [Nuvelya]. After being developed on the problem of repetition, architect assumed that the inhabited bridge was copied from his own project “of bridge- amphitheatre” and completed its speech by that obvious fact that it is already time to cease to be second and to overcome “delay from the Moscow architectural thought from the world”. The disturbance of Yuri Platonov is not very understandable, since usually artists are proud of the fact that they copy them, if this is actual then. From the other side, the charge in the plagiarism the matter offensive, and it usually is required to prove, especially when the similarity of two bridges consists only in their curvature. So indeed from the other side it is possible indeed to say that the second bridge completes the composition of the first. Very, nevertheless, it is complicated to patent form. This as if architect Zazakov offended to the architect of L'vov for the use of [tsirkumferentsii] or cupola. [Asadova]'s on the bank project workshop [A]. consists of many-colored tapes - wavy ramps with the flower gardens broken on their surface. Tapes are interwoven by the similarity of scythe and pass into the volume of bridge - complex lattice frame, which is inflated by [zhivopodobnoy] form in the middle and that falling to the edges. Bridge is filled with the verdure of winter gardens - it also many-colored as embankment. Not very this is similar to the bridge of Yuri Platonov, honestly speaking. To Foster and [Kalatravu] - yes, it can be. Although came out [poveselee], is possible, in by something and too in a bold hand, in any case, at least [vpechatlyayushche]. However, Yuri [Luzhkov] concentrated his dissatisfaction with projects on the transport diagram and rejected both proposals in the manner that of them and they showed, in a heap and without going into details. Then mayor described to those being present that personally to it the London “cucumber” of Foster was not pleased, especially for that reason, that the mayor of London, whose office was located in this building, they re-elected. And it witty advised to investors - if they want to make a gift to city, let they bury substation under the earth and make a pharmaceutical vegetable-garden at this place.

Epic movie about Moscow and Saint Petersburg rising, the West falling behind the Imperia, while the East gradually catches up.

http://s5.largeimagehost.com/HL/QrttUFU/MIBC.gif

Watch in the next episode - the East overtakes the West and Russia eventually leaves everyone behind.

I like the designs a lot but this development makes me sad, mainly because I cannot help but think that just a couple of rich, greedy, spoiled busters, who buy A380 as their personal jets, are building these by the expense of misserable masses. It is like "I want a skyline. I will pay easy earned 120 billion in a sec to you." I really dont believe Russia has a deep economy to justfy this office buildings. Playgrounds for spoiled oil&gas sellers and their connections. Like Dubai.

you are wrong. if you look at china in the past or now. it is called the factory of the world, but as you saw the chinese cities they have damn big skylines and they dont need them for showing that they can afford them, too.

russia has today more 100000 milionaires and the number is growing and an income in moscow of 2000€-3000€ is normal with good qualification and the russians have a good education system, it has bad image because of corruption and it is bad but people are trying their best and they are not silly.
my recommendation got to moscow and make yourself a picture and dont visit only the kreml.

This development is impressive and significant for Moscow, regardless of anyone's myopic prejudices about Russia. Also a very fine collection of modern architecture there that works well together. Moscow really shows its transition over time well through its buildings.

It's hard to compare since it's not finished , but maybe it won't be better than Shanghai's , keep in mind Shanghai is still building and more to come in the plan for them , but the Moscow IBC will stand out very well with Russia tower
