Is there something like 'groundscrapers'? I.o.w buildings going underground, instead of up. Which buildings have the deepest underground levels?

Ground scrapers as far as I know are large mid rise buildings.

London has many of those types of buildings. THey often have more floor space than some of the London Skyscrapers.

Lol, more like groundcreepers! Actually, I meant underground buildings- like a mine of some sort.

This is the first time I have heard this term.

Harkerb, you mean things like bunkers or so...I have seen on TV once about Germany (second WW) a bunker with 10 floors under the ground.
There must be many in the world but probably many are secret, as they are militair.

And it brings me now to Montréals Ville Souterrain...I am not sure about the number of levels, but it is a HUGE complex under the ground.

The government buildings at the Kremlin in Moscow are underground. They are about 10 storeys down.

London is the capital of groundscrapers. We have more of these huge, bulky, lowrise blocks than probably any other city on Earth :(

When I looked at Athen's durring the 2004 Summer Olympics, the majority of its skyline was lowrises and groundscrapers.

Some underground car parks in Paris have 10 floors below ground. Several malls in the city are also built underground (Les 4 Temps under La Défense, Les Halles under Châtelet, Le Carroussel under the Louvre, ...), however as far as I know they don't reach the -10 levels.

Actually, outside car parks, I can't think of any structures with more than 10 underground floors, outside probably some military facilities we don't have access to. :D

As for Groundscrapers, there are also loads of them in Paris. I believe somewhere European cities are very "good" at this. Anyway, the most beautiful of Paris groundscrapers is certainly the new Ministry of Finances, which used to be located in one wing of the Louvre. Of course, you can also consider the Louvre as a groundscraper, but ... I'm not sure. :D
