The eight buildings were supposed to be conencted, but those portions were not built. That seems to be a strange way to construct things! :runaway: mac71 December 27th, 2005, 08:00 PM The Great Wall of China is the widest of all. Approximately 6,700 kilometers (4,163 miles) wide. ;) http://www.photo.net/photo/2000pcd1672/great-wall-7.3.jpg http://www.specialjourneys.com/uploadimages/73Great%20Wall%20of%20China,%20Beijing.jpg http://www.utsa.edu/alumni/travel/Beijing2006/china2.jpg vid December 27th, 2005, 08:24 PM It isnt a building tho ;) TalB December 29th, 2005, 01:10 AM The Great Wall of China is probably the widest structure on Earth. mr_storms December 29th, 2005, 01:20 AM Wikipedia says that Kansai's Main terminal is the longest building in the world at 1.7km great prairie December 29th, 2005, 01:22 AM The Great Wall of China is probably the widest structure on Earth. I would call it the longest structure. mac71 December 29th, 2005, 01:38 PM ^^ actually you are right. The lenght of the wall is 6,700 km, but the width is only about 4 metres. TalB December 29th, 2005, 10:38 PM The Great Wall of China is the only wall you can actually see from outer space. Illadelph December 30th, 2005, 01:21 AM Actual building could be the City Hall in Philadelphia. It's the worlds tallest masonry building with walls up to 22ft thick and it sits on 4.5 acres of Land which it covers completely. http://www.virtualtourist.com/travel/North_America/United_States_of_America/Pennsylvania/Philadelphia-860659/Things_To_Do-Philadelphia-City_Hall-BR-1.html Bitxofo January 5th, 2006, 03:52 AM The Great Wall of China is probably the widest structure on Earth. Do you know the difference between "wide" and "long"? ;) satit28 January 5th, 2006, 02:11 PM must be........ looks really long.......... thunder head January 5th, 2006, 02:19 PM The Great Wall of China is the only wall you can actually see from outer space. You cannot see it from space because it is too narrow, it's angular width as seen from space would be far too small for the human eye to resolve. dom January 5th, 2006, 03:05 PM I remember reading that Kansai International Airport is the longest building in the world. I'm not sure if that counts as 'width' though. Mechandise Mart in Chicago seemed very wide when I first came across it. The Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg also goes on for a bit. PotatoGuy January 7th, 2006, 05:51 AM ^That really doesnt look like a very noce holliday destination. :P Besides the building is reeeeally ugly. haha.. well i'm sure people almost 100 years ago had different tastes thryve January 7th, 2006, 04:45 PM I think it is Prora. Damn nightfire741 January 8th, 2006, 02:28 AM Try 60 ;) dingyunyang179 January 9th, 2006, 06:00 PM It's hard to answer this question. Sukino February 12th, 2006, 04:18 PM The Great Wall of China is the only wall you can actually see from outer space. No you cannot. DGM February 12th, 2006, 09:56 PM I have tried to find it using google earth and have had some trouble. Blue Swede February 23rd, 2006, 02:35 PM Well, the Great Wall, if you want to talk about wide (if 'wide' is also 'long') has to be noted. There are (interior) barracks, administrative centers and towers along the wall, so it could be considered some sort of a 'building' but that's open to argument of course. How about the building in Berlin, that old low-rise nazi-era aircraft factory, I don't know what it's called but it is gigantic and goes on and on and on -- took us forever to drive round -- anyone know the name? Mr. Maciek March 17th, 2006, 06:31 AM hmmmmmm its hard to say what a wide building is and what a long building is, can be easily mistaken but the two measurments are tottaly different, i mean thats just stupid calling the great wall a wide building. the best way to work it out is if a buildings width is larger then its length, then it would be called its length.. think about it lol WeasteDevil March 29th, 2006, 01:09 PM In this context, width or breadth is something measured along its smallest side (x or z axis), length is something measured along its longest side (x or z axis). Height is something measured along the y axis positive to the ground it stands on. NewcastleArchStudent March 30th, 2006, 01:52 AM That Prora is one very scary attempt at Butlins... HelloMoto163 March 30th, 2006, 04:36 PM the building (size: 284.000 m˛ and 1230 long) of the tempelhof airport is one of the three biggest buildings in the world after the pentagon and the parliament palace in bukarest there is a model: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/ab/BerlinTempelhofFlughafenModell.jpg Mosaic March 31st, 2006, 04:12 PM Whoa!!! F-ian April 4th, 2006, 04:15 AM I think Airports should not be Included. its not worlds wides airports thread :) Long or wide at least its not tall :) so rules are: no Airports No Industrial building or ware houses |
