I noticed in the backround of the one picture that the Guanzhou tv and observation tower is almost done! I hadn't any idea that it was nearly topped-out. The city is becoming quite a landmark indeed. Even with the design change, I can't wait to watch the Guanzhou East tower rise in a couple of years!

I don't mind GZ behide the speed of development compare to Shanghai or Chongqing cousins. As long as they have a careful planning, that is matter the most. So far, they're doing a good job.:)

Actually, there is only one 2000+ foot building, and that's BD. The Guangzhou TV tower doesn't count because it's a tower, not a skyscraper.

But if you want to count all structures, there are a bunch of 2000+ ft. guyed masts in the US.

How do I get there by metro?

if you want to go to the west tower ,take the metro to Zhujiang New Town Station. go out for Exit A1,not Exit A2.

if you want to go to the TV tower, take the metro to Chigang Pagoda Station. go out for Exit A too ,and you will stand beneath the TV tower:lol:

two stations on line 3 also

They are not very close. The Great Wall is near Beijing. You have to take the plane or express train to go to Beijing first, from either Guangzhou or Shanghai. Shanghai is halfway closer than Guangzhou.

not nearly!
guangzhou to beijing: 2450KM
guangzhou to shanghai: 1780km
shanghai to beijing :1650km

you must spend 2 hours by plane from guangzhou to beijing , use almost 1hours From The capital airport to beijing downtown by airport express and spend 1~2 hours by GREATWALL EXPRESS TRAIN from beijing downtown to the Greatwall。

I would have had the crown of the building look more rounded off as it does look quite abrupt. Is that a helipad on top because it doesn't really work at that angle, wish it could have been more central on the top... But saying that, I cannot deny this is a gorgeous tower!

SilentStrike

yeah its a heli pad. And I guess its put to the side so that there is still a lot of sunlight that can go into the atrium.

Yes. But only since they are all in such a huge country. Because in terms of supertalls per city there is only one winner... :)

Nevertheless, if these towers could form a skyline, it would probably be the best one ever. Too bad, then as a tourist, to see all of China's supertalls, you would probably have to travel 10000km.

It is true these cities spread across vast distances. I don't think three months vacation would cover everything. There are so many sites seeing in China. Anyway, here are 10 fastest development cities in China. Guess what, Guangzhou is standing #4. Not bad.
