San Diego Museum of Art
Balboa Park, San Diego, California
Officially opening in 1926, the San Diego Museum of Art was built in the Spanish-Colonial style of the 1915 Expo buildings located in Balboa Park. The facade was further enhanced with motifs taken from the sixteenth century Spanish Renaissance and included life-size sculptures of Spanish old-master painters, Velazquez, Murillo and Zubarán, as well as heraldic symbols of Spain, the United States, California, and San Diego.
