DESPERATE Housewives star Eva Longoria has her sights set on the Gulf. The star, who plays Gabrielle, is said to be keen on visiting the region after hearing much about it from fellow Hollywood icons. Eva, from Corpus Christi, Texas, is also thrilled that the series, aired every Monday at 8pm on the Showtime network, is doing so well in the GCC.

"I haven't been to places like Dubai and Bahrain, but I would so love to visit," Eva said from Los Angeles, California, US.

"My friend has a place on The Palm (Dubai), which sounds amazing and he's like 'come over let's have your birthday party there!'

"But I'm like 'it's so far away from LA'.

"But yes, one day I will come. It sounds so fab and I have heard so many wonderful things about the region. So yes, I would love to go!"

Eva said that she was happy to know that people in the Middle East were looking forward to watching Desperate Housewives each week.

"That's what I love about Desperate Housewives, it is so universal," she said.

"There is a desperate housewife in every country and people can relate to the show wherever they live."

But Eva, who was named as one of the 50 Most Beautiful People by People magazine this year, says her real life is nothing like the character she plays.

"I am the opposite to Gabrielle," she said.

"I love kids, I want to have a huge family, be married, I'm not materialistic, I love to cook, clean, sew, I'm actually very domesticated I think I'm desperate to be a housewife.

"But Gabrielle is defiantly not domesticated, so we are totally different.

"I guess the one thing we do have in common is that we are both very ambitious.

"Like Gabrielle, I want what I want when I want it!"

Ok well its no surprise that Dubai's name is getting around. Hmm, i wonder if MJ's stay had anything to do with Bahrain's mention? Anyway this is asign that Bahrain is slowly getting more international recognition aswell!!

Don't be surprised if they mention bahrain, has nothin to do with dubai. It's known that more americans are gettin more exposure to bahrain. Well they've been here over 100 years.

I hope they don't protest if she decides to come here...LoL...I guess they won't, cuz they wouldn't know who she really is...The very backword religious ppl that is...

It'd be cool if she came here...We need more publicity, maybe with other celebrities besides MJ coming here, we can get this publicity and attention without working at it...Since we don't seem to know how to market the country's name, like Dubai does...

I'm a big fan of desperate housewives :D
