Hi, very nice pics, and thanks MilleniaL for all of your posts. You always bring up the most creative projects.. :) When I read the paper (I think it was the Nov. 15 issue) , they mentioned that it will be on the place of the current exhibition center, and it will be the tallest tower in Doha. Burj Dubai Doha will be over 500 m. tall with the antenna, but this has to be taller then...

you right halawa, it was the Nov issue ...
there were some pictures for other project and i wanted to post them but i didn't coz i have no idea what they are for.

people called dubai crazy for building so many buildings... and said '' is there demands! for all those things!'' after 2 weeks the UAE removed the law of needing a local partner to be able to open your own business or a factory or watsoever, its been 2 weeks that this law has been removed and 30% of the vacant spaces in dubai offices/residential have been filled, many palestinians, jordanian, syrians, yemenis and iranis have went their and in 2006 Dubai expects more to come (by the way the mentioned nationalities are the majority who went to dubai).
Thought still there is arabs who think dubai is too liberal for them and not their type of place for living because of the many westerners there is (it wont take more than 5 months max until qatar removes this law) ,
Qatar on the other hand is very respected by palestinians, jordanians, syrians,IRAQIS( since from every 10 qatari maybe 4 or 6 are originaly from iraq, guys dont flame me on this one look at families such as al-kubaisi and al-nuaimi..) many will go there when this law will be removed.
(btw guys does anyone have the article about this law's removal (qanoon al kafeel) this law will surely be removed from all gulf countries except saudi arabia because its not in its interest. and other than that this law is kind of 2 edged, if they see a person is very succeful they will grant him the watever gulf nationality qatar and kuwait have been doing that.

Yes it is way too low. The burj dubai tower is costing $800m and compared to most other places this is very cheap for a tower this size. In Chicago, the trump international hotel and tower costs more than this and I heard figures aproaching $2bn for fordham spire. Of course building costs are lower in the ME but still, that's way too little for this tower
MillenniaL
December 29th, 2005, 06:41 PM
yea ,maybe the newspaper made a mistake in the cost or $180m is just the cost of the building not for the whole project .

the question of demand is one that particularly comes to mind. The problem with these super talls in cities like doha is that it might actaully slow down the growth of the citys development in temrs of urban density. nevertheless this is a great tower :)

I made this picture to show you how BARWA tower, DUBAI tower, ALBIDAA tower, and DOHA office tower will look like in our skyline. Hope It will be very close to the reality. :colgate:
http://www.al3nabi.net/upload/show.php?pic=96323
Notice: there is an illusion in the picture due to the perspective, buildings in the right appear smaller than the left coz the left are closer to the camera.
But I mad the size of the 4 towers as there is no illusion

you live in a democratic country and should respect ''your!'' laws we dont live in a democratic country and you should respect ''OUR'' laws. get it?
look if we in kuwait give the nationality only to arabs its our decision we decide what to do with our small country and besides one of the main rules for an arab getting the nationality is if he shares the same values as kuwaitis thats why the ones who are getting the passport are only iraqis, palestinians, yemenis, saudis, and other gulf nationalities such as omani. We want conservative who can keep our culture going on, all the ones who received the passport have become great supporters of kuwait and have adopted the kuwaiti customs at 90% if not more!
We need to preserve our culture thats why we cannot give the passport to anyone and our culture demands a certain kind of people, i know kuwaitis that are kurdish! iranians and indians! for your personal information but they have living here for a long time and contributed a lot for kuwait (ever since 1920 and some before!) and i also know a norwegian who lives in kuwait and is considerd as kuwaiti he helped us kuwaitis a lot in improoving our farms, he made our strawberry very big and gave it a great taste! thought this guy wears as if he was in the 16th century norway, we have no problem in that since he contributed, He got the passport not long ago after converting to islam he lives in kuwait with his wife and children and everyone likes him, I can even bet you that arabs who do terrorist operations against foreigners like him!
there is kinda the same kind in the UAE 2 canadians who helped the UAE (then all the ME) to improove the birth rate of camels, horses, falcons, eagles, etc. they both live in the UAE married , have children and have converted to islam 3-4 years ago, they got the UAE passport. But this doesnt mean we will give the passport to all new ''converts'' those did it out of pure heart and loved our country and culture and have made a BIG! contribution. They have adopted our way of seeing things they left their political ideology they had in their native countries and adopted ours they did many things!
can you do that?

My God. What is this !!
First of, who said that 6 out of 10 qataris are from iraq ?? Al na3ym arent from Iraq, al-sada are !!
Anyways, yeah the skyline looks nice and colorful, but a lot of ppl dont think what will this do to us as a ppl, as a culture and the changes this will result in Qatar.
I pride myself in Qatar cause of our rich heritage and tribal/muslim culture. IT will all disappear with these projects. We're gaining something at the expanse of something that is very dear to us and cant be valued at any price at all.

al-nu3ayim, al-ka3ban, al-3atieah, al-shimiri & al-kubisah have branches in iraq but they're not originally from iraq.
al-sada, my family, are NOT from iraq, they're from alhijaz, but spread all over the islamic world. some of them are sharifs, former rulers of mekkah, some are hashimtes, direct descendnts from the most famous arabic tribe, qurish.

Al - sada are from iraq.
Al sada are the direct decendents of a religious man called ahmed bin kasab al raf3aya who moved from iraq into north qatar. He was invited by manan3ah clan who at the time lived in bu thloof village. He married one of their daughters and settled nearby in what is today ruwais village, which many of al-sada and other ashraf families, mine included, live there currently.
True, they were from hijaz and they're great ancestors did rule mecca, hence there name ashraf.. yashrfeen 3alla meca.
The family extends from the rulers of today moroco all the way to indonesia.
When I said iraq because the alsada clan of qatar, bahrain and dareen island in saudi all come from one man who came over from iraq.
and the n3yms u talk about might be another n3yim. NO way they are from iraq, some in bahrain are shia thats because they come from a village in bahrain called naim village but have nothing to do with the other na3yims.
and amazing picture.. although im sour about all this development, it still looks amazing.

This is the render for Doha Convention Centre and Tower:

So clearly the project is there with the X marking the tower:

Now here is what Hazeem pointed out: the Barwa Tower is destined to be at the other side of the convention center!
Note this is the same pointed roof in the 2 renders.

According to this, the location of Barwa Tower is there:
