Does anyone have any up close and personal photos of the man-made lake to show us what the lake looks like viewed on the ground level? What is the man-made lake for in the Disneyland development plan?

I have flown in and out of Hong Kong many times, but have never been able to view the cityscape from above.
Either the planes approach from the west, or I sit on the right when it approaches from the east, or fly back in bad weather with low cloud.

I flew back to HK once again last month, sitting on the left side and hoping it would approach the airport from the west, so that the plane would fly over the Victoria Harbour.
After 15 hours crammed in the economy seat flying back from New York, the plane entered Hong Kong from the southwest, flew across the territory south of HKI and then turned around approached the airport from the east.
The sky was blurry with medium smog, but was still clear enough to view the cityscape of Hong Kong.
This is the first time I have actually been able to see that amazing angle. It was worthy to be suffered in pain for 15 hours for only 20 minutes of go around Hong Kong.

This is no Hong Kong yet, but I am sure we are interested in what's going just across the boarder in Shenzhen. This is the Shenzhen Airport, looks like a second runway is actually being constructed.

Fantastic!

It's not often that you get to see Tsuen Wan/Kwai Chung and Shatin from the air...

So should I be sitting on the left side (ABC) of the plane to get a good view of HK?

And I've always wondered what that huge wall on the hill on your Tsuen Wan shot is

edit: from what i can tell on my map it's called Wonderland Villas (Wa Ging Shan Zh/Chong)

If you want to see the Victoria Harbour and you are flying in during the day, yes, left side has better view. You see Tai Mo Shan and Tolo Harbour on the right side on the approach. That's only if the plane approaches from the east over HK; if the plane approaches from the west, it doesn't matter which side you sit you are not going to see anything thing beside Lantau (right side) or Tuen Mun (left side).

If your flight is arriving at night, the harbour may be on the right even if approaches from the east. After certain time, the flight path changes to avoid flying over Shatin and Tsuen Wan because of the noise issue over residential area, and take a short cut over Lamma Channel and a sharp left turn just over the Tsing Ma Bridge.

No, it is not. Google Earth has newer aearil.
The same aerial has been circulating around for many years.

If you look carefully, 2IFC is still a giant hole in the picture, it must be taken in the late 90s.
