Keppel Land seeks help to remove bottlenecks

By KINH LUAN

Singapore property developer Keppel Land is asking the HCMC government for help to press on with two major projects that have been hampered by slow site clearance.
Linson Lim, chief represen*tative of Keppel Land in Viet*nam, told HCMC chairman Le Hoang Quan at a meeting yes*terday that the Saigon Sports City and Saigon Center (phase two) projects had been af*fected by unready land.
Vietnam granted an invest*ment license to the US$130-million Saigon Sports City cov*ering 74 hectares in District 2 in August 2004 and featuring scores of hi-rise buildings, high-class commercial areas, numerous sports facilities and water sport auditoriums and other service facilities.
However, differences re*garding site clearance com*pensation rates between au*thorities and affected families have had an impact on the progress of the project, which is a venture between Keppel Land and Hong Kong's Chiap Hua, Lim said.
District 2 authorities have yet to complete a road leading to the project site, also due to slow land clearance.
He added authorities have not approved the land zoning plan for the area, throwing Saigon Sports City Co. Ltd. into a difficult position.
On the same boat is a project to implement the second phase of the Saigon Center Tower in District 1, Lim said, also attributing the situation to site clearance problems.
Seven families and four companies under the trans*port ministry have not moved to make room for the imple*mentation of the project.
Chairman Quan said he would tell districts 1 and 2 and other relevant State agencies to see to these problems so that Keppel Land could go on with their projects.

Bang, I never said there were two buildings...

BTW, the Botanic towers are really getting up there, at least ten stories by now. Quite visible when going to the airport along Bach Dang from District 2.

I saw a couple of projects near the airport, but they were not quite 12 stories, I have some renders somewhere.

Nice to see google updated Saigon! Will get on this now.

Yeah, I saw this a while ago. Here is the church, no longer a church...

http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i246/Jaroslaw1/P6220071Large.jpg

and a render turning ccw 120 degrees:

http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i246/Jaroslaw1/P6220059Large.jpg

The leftmost part is already built, it's 11 or 12 stories.

One more shot to add to the collection of bad quality, milky-sky photos, Nam KK Nghia, on the left a previously mentioned 18 floor apartment building (you mentioned it!) that will overlook the zoo. A render on emporis.

September 10th, 2006, 06:52 PM
that church inside the airport and military base....not alot of people live around there (even now) so i think this one was built by the american for the american soldiers during the war...........now it's a warehouse

Jaro they changed the design and its function.
I remember the design was 3 zigzag apartment buildings really nice......the new design is kind of bulky and has more glass, and it says "van phong" so now they are building office instead of apartment.......things change so much over 2yrs

Bang, there was also a four-tower apartment complex by Waseco, farther down on the right from the church, but there was no movement on that site. I doubt that anything will happen there.

Titanic, that is a 12-story building on Luong Dinh Cua, it has a peaked roof. It's on emporis with a render.
