It is owned by the Henninger brewery and has a storage capacity of 16,000 tons of barley. The 120 metre, 33-story high tower was designed by Karl Lieser and was built from 1959 to 1961. Its was inaugurated on May 18, 1961. The Henninger Tower has two rotating restaurants at the height of 101 and 106 metres and an open-air observation deck at the height of 110 metres. The tower has been closed to the public since October 31, 2002. Plans to destroy the tower and replace it with a new one were abandoned. Since 1961 every year on May 1 the professional cycling race "Rund um den Henninger Turm" is held with a course circling the tower multiple times. This includes construction of three 12-story towers, an 85-meter, 20-story tower, several hundred apartments in lowrise buildings, office space, service facilities, and a hotel. http://www.emporis.com/files/transfer/6/2003/12/234012.jpg Lss911 January 20th, 2006, 01:14 AM Very strange! 5/10 goschio February 14th, 2006, 08:40 AM Ugly as hell!
