Just some quick pics I took of Richmond over the holidays. 90% of them from a moving car (no I wasn't driving :-) )

I've always loved these signs in Virginia, always have pictured fighter jets "enforcing the speed limit"

Great pics. I got a chance to check out the Richmond skyline while traveling to/from DC this past weekend. I was puzzled as to why all of the buildings weren't lit up at night though (the James Monroe building being one of them). The train station is an AWESOME building. Next time, if I ride solo, I will definitely have to explore downtown a bit.

I love the train station.

And when you break the speed limit, do they launch a heat-seeking missile at you? :P

edit: my 200th post :)

Good pics thanks!

Let's see if I can explain this and have it make any sense... The city's Grand Illumination is centered around the James Center (Wachovia, McGuire Woods, Omni Richmond etc.. group of buildings). Most of the other lit up buildings are within just a few blocks of the James Center. It would be nice if the whole skyline was lit up. That would be a ton of buildings! I'm not positive, but the reason the Monroe Tower isn't lit might have to do with the fact that it is a state office building. Whole separation of church and state thing might come into play there. Plus, the state govt. could spend its money on other things besides lights on a building. Would be nice though. :)

Main Street Station is a gem.

...for the Raleigh area to actually be slightly larger than Richmond's, ...Richmond's skyline puts ours to SHAME!!

It's okay... could be bigger though if many of Richmond's big companies were downtown instead of the burbs...

at least 3 new towers are in the works though, which should help!

romec, you did a fantastic work capturing Richmond's urban fabric. This city's skyline and street-level feel puts many cities to shame, I think. Great work :okay:
