Looks like some kind of fancy pen. It's one of those towers that only look good in Dubai, you know. Well i'm overjoyed at having a new 70+ story building in Dubai and that most of the buildings u/c on Sheikh Zayed Road are 50+. Cheers to the fastest growing skyscraper hub of the world!

And again I ask what is Height to Spire and to Roof
as i though it was
to Roof: 333 m 1,093 ft / to Spire 380 Meters

Dubai-Lover
August 17th, 2004, 02:54 PM
very nice photomontage!! ;) yes height is correct. i've always read 333 to roof and 380 to spire!

but this image is fake. do you see the difference between 21st century at 269m and rotana at 333. the difference between these two heights is quite exaggerated. rotana will never be so tall compared to 21st century!!!

but a really impressive tower, but wrong location in my opinion. when i was at this plot 2 weeks ago or so, i noticed that this plot is very small, so people in the lower 20 floors will directly look into the other building. you can talk from window to window or even can shake hands!!! :) or :(

Trances

not quite that close really at its a city it ment to be dense
but it common many building in other CDB share common walls on 2 or 3 sides !

Dubai-Lover
August 17th, 2004, 02:59 PM
yeah, but for such a hotel? i mean the skyline looks very dense then and this is prety cool, but for visitors staying there for a few nights.. i don't know

Trances
August 17th, 2004, 03:02 PM
Guess not
so if it 380 to spire then its the tallest in Dubai
why is it not listed that way on http://www.emporis.com

Dubai-Lover
August 17th, 2004, 03:07 PM
i think the spire is not included in the design. many towers have a spire that doesn't count to the official height. for example sears tower, with spire it's 527 metres and so it would be much taller than the taipei 101. 101 also has a spire, but it's included in the design and officially counts to the height. same about petronas twin towers in malaysia, spire included in design/structure of building. or even new freedom tower in nyc. to antenna it's 609m and to roof 457, but as antenna not included in structure the official height is 457m!!! :)

Trances
August 17th, 2004, 03:11 PM
but itis not antenna this is spire like spire attached to top the enclosed plant room of emirates towers ! I get the rules just ask wounder why they dont apply to this one
Also the sprie looks much shorter and off to the side on the render compared to the first images

Dubai-Lover
August 17th, 2004, 03:13 PM
i don't know, if towers like petronas and taipei 101 have the spire included in their official height, they could do the same with the rose rotana!!!!
maybe they will list it at 333 or at 380. we will see!!

city of the future
August 17th, 2004, 05:44 PM
yup, they do include the spire height in petronas towers and Taipei 101 (or else sears tower would be the tallest building in the world)

i had a closer look at these two pics and recognized that the roof and spire is totally different from the other pic!

in pic one you can clearly see that the spire is tall. so: roof 333m and spire 380m! OK!

in pic two you can see that the top of the building has been redesigned (officially, you can see this roof on the construction sign board!!! http://www.emporis.com/en/il/im/?id=278260 )
please don't tell me that the roof is still 333m and spire 380m!!!

have a closer look! the spire is not in the middle of the roof! it seems like the final height will be more than 333m!!!

me too! but if it will be taller than the proposed 333m, i think it's ok ;)

i really doubt the 333m. i've already said that before. have a look at 21st century with 269m. it is so much smaller than a 333m rose rotana to roof!!!

I got the picture and confirmation from the architects that the height is 333m to top of spire. you can aslo see that the crown is different on both pictures, in pic 1 its at the apex of the building and in pic 2 its set to the rear, so for now the height remains on ss.com at 333m as it is confirmed.

no news for a long time, but today

ACC wins contract for world's tallest all-suites hotel

Dubai : Arabian Construction Co (ACC) has won the civil construction contract for the 72-storey, 480-suite Rose Rotana Hotel, which is being billed as the world's tallest all-suite hotel.

"According to the Guinness Book of Records, this is going to be the tallest all-suites hotel in the world and is going to complement the region's hospitality industry," Imad Elias, executive vice-president of Rotana Hotels, said.

The hotel, being built on Shaikh Zayed Road, will be managed by Abu Dhabi-based Rotana Group, which manages 17 properties across the Gulf and Levant regions.

Khatib and Alami Consolidated Engineering Co are managing the project on behalf of its developers, Abbco Group. The height of the tower has been fixed at 333 metres, which will include three floors of serviced offices and two floors of meeting and banqueting facilities, mostly targeting the corporate business to be based at the Dubai International Financial Centre.

Middle East Foundations are executing the ground and piling works. The project is scheduled to be completed before the end of 2006.

Officials declined to divulge the value of the contract, estimated to be in the region of a few hundred million dirhams.

Rotana this year announced 10 new hotel projects, which are to be opened between 2004 and 2006. These properties, in various phases of development, are being built by investors at a cost of Dh1.8 billion. The 10 new hotels will add 2,500 guest rooms to the group's existing portfolio of 17 hotels housing 3,500 rooms. Once up and running, they will also provide employment for an additional 4,000 new professionals on top of the current list of 3,000.

Among the 10 new properties, five will be located in Dubai, and one each in Fujairah, Doha, Kuwait, Beirut and Damascus.

Elias said the Al Murooj Rotana, to be located opposite the world's tallest building, the Burj Dubai, will open its doors to the public on May 1, 2005, on the eve of the Arabian Travel Market, for which it will be the hosted buyer.

"Al Murooj Rotana will add 253 guest rooms and 145 serviced and furnished apartments, connected through a boulevard that will have three floating restaurants, a fountain, and retail facilities," he said.

"Besides this, we are going to open the Villa Rotana, an all-suites hotel (with villettes) on Shaikh Zayed Road on June 1. This is being developed by Al Jallaf Investments. Dubai Contracting Co has won the contract for civil works, while Omar Mujais are acting as architectural consultants and interior designers."

Construction is now in full swing.

Elias said ground work for the 200-room Fujairah Rotana Resort at Al Aqah beach is also progressing. "We are planning to increase its size, even before the beginning of the actual construction, due to high demand," he said.

Its flagship hotel in Dubai, the Al Bustan Rotana, meanwhile, has expanded its management by introducing new faces. Patrick Murray has joined the hotel as the new resident manager, while British-born Kim Wells joined as the new executive housekeeper. Justine Ormandy is the area training manager.

Rotana Group last year generated a revenue of $130 million, up by 30 per cent from $100 million generated in 2002. This year, it expects to net more than $145 million.

old news i found on www.ameinfo.com

The Burj Al Arab will no longer be the tallest freestanding hotel in the world when the 72-storey Rose Rotana Hotel opens in Dubai towards the end of 2006. Last week the Arabian Construction Company won the contract for the 333m high all-suite hotel. It will have 480 suites and be located near to the Burj Dubai, the tallest building in the world.

Guess this means it about to move ahead

Once again the projected completion date for this one surprises me. I know buildings in Dubai rise real fast once the foundation work is done but isnt summer 2006 a really optimistic finish target for this one after looking at the latest pictures by D-L?

DEPA, the Middle East's premier hotel interiors contracting company, has clinched a Dh61 million contract with the Abdullah Bin Brook Group for the implementation of the interior work of Rose Rotana Suites in Dubai, the world's tallest serviced apartments tower.

Under the deal, DEPA will supply and furnish the 68 storey tower with lavish furnishings, elegant fixtures and equipment.

To soar 333 metres above Dubai's Shaikh Zayed Road, the Rose Rotana Suites tower is set for completion in 2006.

And in a unique and innovative step, DEPA, in association with its local and international financing institutional partners, is going to arrange the necessary financing to cover the majority of the fit-out and furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E) contract value.

"The financing arrangement will be in the form of an operating lease contract associated with a full maintenance contract where DEPA is committed to maintain the furniture and replace it after seven years in case the owner does not exercise the purchase option," said DEPA CEO Mohannad Sweid.

"We are delighted to have been selected to undertake the execution of the FF&E works on the Rose Rotana Suites, given the building's headline-making distinction among Dubai's stunning skyscraper skyline."

DEPA's latest assignment will generate 410 different types of studios and 72 suites of various classes.

The tower, with its sleek steel, glass structure and its soaring height in relation to its relatively small footprint of 10,000 meters has required that the architect/consultant Khatib & Alami, employ the most sophisticated technology and refined architectural designs to accomplish the project.

The Arab Construction Company (ACC) has been assigned as lead contractor on the project which is based on an original interior design by IDEA Art Decoration.

Rotana, the leading hospitality management company operating hotels, suites and resorts, within the Middle East, will operate the property.

"We intend to create a new level of luxury and prestige on Dubai's Shaikh Zayed Road," commented Ahmed Saleh from Bin Brook.

"Utilising DEPA's implementation teams and the collaboration between the Sharjah-based design professional Salah Jizi of IDEA Art Decoration, architects Khatib & Alami and the Arab Construction Company, has produced a truly awe-inspiring design concept for the tower that puts furnished apartments on another level altogether."

Rose Rotana Suites will also comprise top of the line facilities such as a high end restaurant with private dining areas, conference and meeting rooms, prayer rooms, offices, plus a gymnasium and swimming pool.

"Operating Rose Rotana Suites, which is a unique concept both in its design and offering is an exciting opportunity for Rotana," said Salim El Zir from Rotana. "Functioning as a new-age serviced apartments property with the highest quality hotel services is an exceptional combination unmatched on an international scale."

With a high market share and an exceptional track record of marquee projects such as the Four Seasons Nile Plaza, Burj Al Arab, Abu Dhabi Conference Palace Hotel, Jumeirah Beach Hotel and Grand Hyatt Dubai, DEPA is well placed to leverage the anticipated growth of hotels across the Middle East region. And, as a testament to the company's reputation and business vision, The National Investor, one of the leading UAE investment and merchant banks, recently announced buying a 15 per cent stake in the company.

DEPA is an Interior Contracting company specializing in full scope Fit-Out and Furnishing of Five Star Luxury Hotels, Yachts and Facilities.

DEPA's main office is in Dubai with branches in Milan, Cairo and Abu Dhabi, and site offices in various cities in the Middle East & North Africa.

This network allows DEPA's clients to benefit from the knowledge, organisational ability, purchasing power and facilities it provides.

Some of DEPA's references in UAE are: Burj Al Arab, Conference Palace Hotel, Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Ritz Carlton, Grand Hyatt, Al Bustan Rotana, Fairmont, and Hilton. In Egypt: Four Seasons Sharm El-Sheikh, Four Seasons Nile Plaza, Four Seasons San Stefano, J W Marriott Cairo, Sheraton Alexandria, Hilton Luxor, and Crown Plaza Sharm El-Sheikh.

In other areas: Four Seasons Doha, Sheraton Bahrain, Grand Hyatt Muscat, Sheraton Amman, Le Royal Amman, Radisson SAS Cannes, Ledra Marriott Athens, Radisson Parkway Orlando, Hilton Osaka.

After three decades of Hotel Interiors accomplishments DEPA continues to present magnificent achievements in turnkey interiors of five star luxury Hotels and Yachts, and has developed professional customized services for financing and products leasing that allow clients to benefit from extended financial facilities.

Depa to fit out Rose Rotana tower

Depa, the Middle East’s premier hotel interiors contracting company, has clinched a Dh61 million ($16.6 million) contract with the Abdullah Bin Brook Group for the implementation of the interior work of Rose Rotana Suites in Dubai, believed to be the world’s tallest serviced apartments tower.

^ Well they need to work on it 24/7, they can get it done. I mean here in Bahrain we got a 47 story tower topped out in a year, fast-track implementation. Am not sure of the interiors but the building itself can be finished if you work properly from now.

Dubai-Lover
February 18th, 2005, 07:04 AM
well, let's take chelsea tower for example
i remember ground worls for this tower have been finished in october 2003 and then it started to rise and was topped out in february 2005. rose rotana is much taller so it might take 20 months to being topped out, when chelsea needed almost 17 months! this doesn't include the ground works! and then put 3 or 4 months on top to finish the tower.

i guess the first level will be started in april, then 20 months to construct the tower and bang we already have dec 2006. plus 3 or 4 months working on the interior!

They have installed the formwork, since days ago. It should start to rise 1 floor/week now.

The ground floor level of the core, is compleated now. The formwork has already climbed on the next (1st) level.

Two other yellow tower cranes are being erected on the site. One in front of the tower and one on the left side, so together with the one on the core, will be three in total.

dubaiflo

usually only two cranes for a tower or?
maybe this one will be faster...

DUBAI
June 24th, 2005, 04:31 AM
seems to be growing verry fast!

everytime i drive by it seems to be bigger [and i come close to having an accident!]

AltinD
June 24th, 2005, 11:12 AM
The crane on the left iis done and operational but maybe what I though was to be a possible crane at the front, maybe that was just parts of the other crane, waiting to be installed in place.

Maybe will indeed be just two cranes afterall. I'll give it a look this afternoon.

Yes this one is rising fast, and it has got to be the slimmest tower on SZR... One has to see it from close to realize how slim this is gonna be. I really dont know how they will fit more than one suite per floor.

dubaiflo
June 25th, 2005, 11:09 AM
it is not that slim krazy, compare to the other towers next to it.

dubai my fav food is pfannakuacha.

When UP's The Tower was being constructed, it looked extreamely slim yet it reached 230+ meters in height. I can say that the core of this building is much wider.

Krazy
June 26th, 2005, 03:21 PM
This one is rising quickly. Noticed a significant change in height today after not seeing it for 4 days. I will try to take pictures tomorrow.

i think this one will rise very fast...
and love it. though i suppose july 2006 is a little bit toooo early.. ;)

Krazy
June 26th, 2005, 03:27 PM
If it rises as quickly as it is right now, we can expect it to be topped out by end of 2006 at least.

dubaiflo

but summer 2007 would be cool too.

333 meter's people. If that was how thin it was it's more like a pole.

Looks like a large core for a tall building.

Krazy
July 3rd, 2005, 02:23 PM
Have a look at the render.. it's supposed to be thin.. even if this is the core I doubt it will get much thicker than it already is.

this will be a concrete cored structure with Steel composite floor plates ie steel columns and beams with a permanent formwork and concrete topping.
Simmilar to Marina sometihing or another , hell old age is catching up to me, its the tower between one marina and le reve

AltinD
July 4th, 2005, 12:34 PM
They have already started the construction of the (steel) main structure. I saw it this morning

PS. The tower in marina is Marina Crown, also UP's The Tower in SZR was build using the same technique.

Surely that pic taken on July 3rd is just of the core - that the building will follow - and be a good deal wider - often it appears the core is only 1/3rd to a 1/4 the width of the floor. Still I'd expect to see some structure supporting the exterior walls in that pic - bit unusual don't people think?

dubaiflo

compare the size of the core to the actual floor size...weird.

that would make a 472 storey tower :D

it looks so strange
a little bit like grosvenor house, where the core was always a few floors higher than the building itself
very untypical for dubai i'd say

This building will be 333m tall to the roof and 380m to the spire. Right?
The building will be done before Burj Dubai and if the spire counts it will be the tallest building in Dubai for a short time. Would be nice :)

I think 333 meter will be the top of the spire.

they might be hotel suites but really how many are there going to be on each floor ?
Will their be penthouses ? they are going to need like 3 or 4 levels to get decent floor space.
LOL I guess it cant be as small as it looks
