I got some good pictures this past week while downtown to see King Tut at the Museum of Art-Ft. Lauderdale with my girlfriend. We also got down to the Miami Metrozoo and were able to get some great Miami shots. The skyline shots are thanks to my girlfriend while I drove.

I'll stop talking now to get to my feature presentation...

We'll start with some Ft. Lauderdale.

fvcrew22, nice pics... I was in Ft. Lauderdale on Saturday and also took several pics. maybe we saw each other and didn't even know it. (BTW, Represent for Boca Raton). Unfortunately, I can't get any of my pics onto the forum because I don't know how to get them from iPhoto to the website. Any assistance would be very helpful. Afterall, these are good picturers.

brickell tunnel..............lmao,lol

thats never going to happen its going to cost too much and the city is still doing studies and by the way the riverfront project towers would be right on top of the tunnel,so i dont think it can be done..

have i ever said how much i hate the riverfront project??

Hey, we might be getting the Port of Miami Tunnel, from Watson to Dodge Island

DShoost88
January 12th, 2006, 01:30 AM
Hey Mad Hatter: what do you mean they couldn't build the tunnel? Just because the riverfront towers are going up there doesn't mean a tunnel can't go under them. In fact, those of you who have been reading about the "new tallest" approved for Fort Lauderdale, the one directly next to the Stranahan House, that's being built directly over the Ft. Lauderdale tunnel. What I don't understand is why no engineers ever did build a tunnel from Federal directly to Brickel (if that is the brickel tunnel you're speaking of, I appologize). It makes no sense to me: they say US-1 is the longest stretch of road from Maine to Key West, yet you have to technically "detour" to second street/Brickell once you're in downtown Miami.

The Mad Hatter!!
January 12th, 2006, 01:34 AM
well because the riverfront projkect was unwilling to design there foundation in a manner that would allow the tunnel to be built under, further no tunnel can be built under the fpl substation,so it'll have to go somewhere else or just not be built

Very nice photo's. I thought there would be a lot more cranes dotting the Miami skyline by now, especially with all of the hi-rises planned down there??

FLA FELLA  , there's over 32 tower construction cranes NOW within the City of MIAMI limits, counting the MIDTOWN, Edgewater, OMNI-Arts area, Downtown, BRICKELL, Coconut Grove, CORAL WAY, Little Havana, and the CIVIC CENTER.

This Angle of the Picture of MIAMI  shows only 2 of the tower construction cranes in the right far ground, The NEO Vertika tower, But,

Fla - fella :okay: , if you are coming south into the City of Miami on I-95 , you'll past the AIRPORT expressway ( S.R. 112 - I-195 ) interchange you'll see on your left, the Most tower constuction cranes in any american city, Its Awesome, If anyone can take that picture now,, You;ll know MIAMI :cheer: is Under construction. :cheers2:

Just in that one area off I-95 south of N.W. 36 street, are in Fact, 22 tower construction cranes building over 20 tower projects into Downtown, MIDTOWN project has 6 cranes now, and OPera Tower , 1800 club , and the Quantum twin towers has 8 cranes, with Onyx 2, Platitum , and City 24, and the newest tower StarLofts rising faster with another tower crane going up every week, into the Great wall of Miami 6 tower construction crnes, Everglades on the bay 4 tower cranes, 50 biscayne 2 tower cranes, and did I forget the Loft 2 , lol, and MET 1, so many more, I'm speechless, !!!! :righton:
Then after the MIAMI RIVER over I-95 south , you''ll see another 14 tower construction cranes rising more every week building another 20 tower projects.

Remember  , ANGLE  and Location  makes a picture worth a thousand words.

Good looking out, I thought that photo was somewhat deceiving from that angle. I can't wait to actually see all of this in person. Maybe next year, I will be able to travel down there to witness all of this. By then, it may take a couple of days or more just to drive around and see all of the construction going on!! :okay:

question for anyone: why keep these trees around at all if the palms on them are almost non-existant? all that's there is the trunk. i've seen quite a lot of this in florida, and it doesn't make any sense to me to keep a trunk with a couple small palms around.

Beautiful pics, umiami.

Does anyone else ever notice that the Southeast Building (yes, I will ALWAYS call it that) almost always looks taller than the Four Seasons?

I know different angles would prove otherwise, but sometimes you'd almost swear Miami was hilly and offered deceptive vistas...kinda like how the Transamerica Pyramid gets buried in some skyline shots of San Francisco.

We should launch an investigation into Miami's hidden topography!

Pablo63090
July 2nd, 2006, 06:03 PM
The Southeast Financial Center might still be Miami's tallest. It does have higher occupiable spaces, but the semi-arch on The Four Seasons might be what makes it the tallest. Also, most sources list One Biscayne is taller that the Miami Center and that is false. It is proven the Miami Center was Miami's tallest for a brief time. Also 701 Brickell is about ten meters taller that the 137 m. sources always claim. It height is closer to the Miami Center's.

MiamiSunCity
July 2nd, 2006, 10:50 PM
Without a doubt miami Four seasons is the tallest in the state, what you see isthe angle that put the wachovia tower way closer than the millennium tower, and you re right, idont trust about manyheight listing for miami bulding, note in www.emporis.com where the Skyline tower in Brickell is taller than The next door neighborn Bristol tower,i have been in the area many times and i can sy thats not true 100%,and One bicayne tower is about 139 meters and not a 500 footer as some publication says, and it even look shorter because what holds the antena (a floor concrete structure) is not visible very well from any angle.

Pablo63090
July 3rd, 2006, 04:39 AM
The Bristol Tower is definetely taller that Skyline. According to a Herald article on the then new Miami Center complex, One Biscayne is 452 ft. tall and the Miami Center Office Tower is 484 ft. tall.

spellbound
July 3rd, 2006, 03:01 PM
Just to clear up any possible confusion, I KNOW the Four Seasons is the tallest...it's just that so many vistas still make the Southeast (OK, OK..."Wachovia" he said grudgingly) look taller.

FT L is looking pretty urban, yet friendly at the same time. Love the riverwalk.

This dude is joking right? Ft. Lauderdale may look friendly and urban but its neither of the two. It is quite possible the rudest city I have ever live in. I lived in downtown Ft. Lauderdale at the Summit and the downtown is just as dead as any midwest downtown
aside from river walk and 2nd street on the weekends as an exception.

Don't let those buildings and "friendly" look fool you.
