I agree with shugs like in shiraz you dont have a lot of mega malls, but the fun thing is that they are under construction! :D Karaj is the most important sub urb for Tehran so it really needed something like this. We should realise that this sub urb is almost as big as esfahan!

Mahestan Shopping Center

Situated so closely to main streets and boulevards the Mahestan Shopping Center’s inherent geographic location is a cause of its high economic growth rate.
The Mahastan Shopping Center (MSC) is located in the northern part of Karaj city, in the environs of the beautiful Alborz Mountains.
MSC is near to Nabovvat Park and close to well-populated areas of the city.
It has easy connections to the city center, the subway network and Tehran-Karaj free way.
MSC has been planned to meet the needs of neighboring tower bloc residents, the growing population of the northern part of Karaj, and the several million residents of Karaj and nearby cities.
With the aim of attracting famous and popular shops and chain stores, MSC can provide both seasonal and the occasional shopping experience, cutting down on transportation times for customers.
The design and construction management of MSC have been undertaken by Maha Banaye Shahr Company.
This project is under construction with the cooperation of Tehran Building and Urban Organization and foreign investment.
MSC is the outcome of the effort, knowledge, experience, artistic flair and continuous patience of engineers that have combined the concepts of reinstating the civilization of this land with the tourism identity of Karaj city.
This project is rooted in precious heritage and with the benefit of modern technology and materials, will create an advanced development suitable for the metropolitan city of Karaj and its citizens.
In designing the MSC, recent engineering technology is used together with Islamic-Persian architectural traits to create a modern shopping center cast in the beauty of the old bazaars of Iran.
This innovative design concept combines the characteristics of both the ancient bazaar and contemporary shopping centers.
Stores on all floors are arranged along a kilometer stretch of lobby, moderately sloped, so that all stores are accessible without the use of the stairs, elevators and escalators which connect each storey.
MSC’s exterior design will take on a classical form mixed with modern materials that represent the original architecture of traditional bazaars in a modern form.
These are unique characteristics to this shopping center.
MSC is scheduled to open in two phase.
In each phase, all stores will start their activities at the same time.
Given the wide public spaces and the large number of stores, the MSC has been divided into many different parts and each part is designated for a special kind of business activity.
There are also some sections that are left for family entertainment.
