You all noticed the new Rapid bus right?
I've never seen any of them close to full
Pretty freaky to have one turn right on front of you too....
am I the only one that thinks it's unnecessary?
latennisguy January 11th, 2006, 05:30 AM I think they used to have some way back when MTA used to be RTD. Unnecessary? no. I think if makes perfect sense, especially along corridors where they are used a lot. They do look weird though. Almost like a big dildo! :crazy2:
Fern~Fern* January 11th, 2006, 05:38 AM I've seen the Orange Line and the Western Ave Rapid jammed packed. I just got me a new XC90 and I don't think I want to play chicken with this monster. So I would give the bus the right of way.
LA-dude January 11th, 2006, 05:38 AM :weirdo: ......my brother just started riding those rapid buses down hawthorne blvd and he says he likes it...i think they put these in to also boost ridership on major corridors, because theyre supposed to be faster...i think its working at least
EDIT: oops i meant for the sign to point at latennisguy

klamedia January 11th, 2006, 11:16 AM How is better mass transit ever unneccessary?
vid January 11th, 2006, 03:04 PM They're called articulated busses. We have them in Ottawa. (http://ca.geocities.com/scubiedu@rogers.com/OCtragic.JPG)
klamedia January 11th, 2006, 06:47 PM Cool pic "vid". The MTA plans to buy many more of these busses and run them as Rapids. Finally LA is "getting it".

Maybe the 16 people that use the subways there will consider trying them out!
And about that pic, Articulated busses cant handle snow. But you guys down there in Year-Long-Summery-Sunny-Happyness-Ville don't have to worry about that. :)
klamedia January 11th, 2006, 07:29 PM Yeah, I think we got the stupid idea that a busway would work here from you guys and Curitiba. Ottawa density: roughly 300 per sq km/ Los Angeles 3000 per sq km. I don't know what they were thinking? Has the O-train constructed any subway segments yet?

cause its pretty big and clumsy and it only has 3 extra rows, and it looks really expensive
klamedia January 12th, 2006, 12:35 AM cause its pretty big and clumsy and it only has 3 extra rows, and it looks really expensive
So you'd rather it be small and efficient with only 1 row and cheap. Sounds like a Hyundai.
LANative January 12th, 2006, 02:00 AM I think this is great. More busses on the street the better. Those are neat looking. Those are the same design the orange line has.
FROM LOS ANGELES January 12th, 2006, 03:21 AM LLong Beach has those too, but older versions. I think they look vey futuristic.
PotatoGuy January 12th, 2006, 04:17 AM the OCTA has those too, i love sitting in the middle cause everyone moves around you :D

The OC has some funky buses..... I saw one on the 5 by SJ Capistrano. It needed a paint job and a bus wash. No wonder people in the OC , don't use public transportation.
